This game is pretty weak compared to Diablo 3...
I'm glad I got this game and let me preface this by saying that Diablo 3 has a lot of problems obviously. The auction house, the always-online system, the repetitive levels...

Besides that, you have to admit that as a piece of work, Diablo 3 is about 10x bigger and better than Torchlight 2. The graphics look really nice while still being fairly easy to run. The combat feels GREAT. The animations are top notch. When the screen gets filled with baddies in Diablo 3 and procs are going off every where, it is a thing of beauty.

And because it's Diablo (aka the Real thing, like Coca-Cola) it's much more exciting when you improve your character in everything.

In torchlight 2, sure they got some game features better than Diablo 3, but I don't feel any real desire to make my character badass because its not DIABLO, its a wannabe...

In Diablo you want to make your character badass because Diablo is the real game, the real franchise that people care about.... and everything just feels so much more polished and like its higher-level programming in Diablo, compred to Torchlight which feels like it was made with Magic Game Maker Studio 10 or whatever... (relatively speaking...)

torchlight 2 is way better than d3...no drm no auction house ruining the economy , it has fishing pts that carry gear, more content free expansion and mods the only d3 does have is higher end graphics, and i kind of like the cartoony look to tl2 better than the serious look of d3. but thats just personal graphical preference still admit it tl2 has way more content and outstripes d3 by a mile.

Same, diablo 3 was a big disappointment.

What a great troll thread, a bit more effort put into it than what most people do these days.

9/10

I also bought diablo 3, and the only reason it sucked, is beacause the makers of diablo did not make it, they made torchlight 2.

Great Game!! The only bad part was I paid 20$ a week ago and now its on a daily deal for 7$!!! I am NOT going to ever buy games on steam when its not in a deal.
With that approach to money, you'll never be able to ever buy anything in life. Can't buy a house, because the price may be lower in the future. Can't buy clothes, because they'll be on sale by next season. Can't buy food, because there may be a special offer for it next week.

After an hour and a half of torchlight, compared to the hundreds of hours Ive put into D3 I can safely say that the things this game does right(ex: stat dist./skill trees/useful drops) make it a better game for me so far and i have yet to mess with the multiplayer.
It's a matter of preference. I would personally say that the stat distribution and skill trees are the *worst* thing about Torchlight, and that the skill system is the one thing that Diablo 3 definitely did right. I played Diablo 2 a lot when it was released and I enjoyed leveling up new characters to try new builds, but that was thirteen years ago. I'm thirteen years older now, and I don't have time to spend that many hours just to try something new only to find out that I didn't like it. It just feels like an artificial time sink and an outdated system.

You sound like you haven't played this game at all, either. Just around 21 hours, you played. I don't think you know this game. Please do not mention about this and that. The stat distrituition is still the same though but the skill tree gets changed. And It's Torchlight II, not Diablo III.

My family played Diablo III more than thousand times together. Each time, it gets patched, it gets worse and worse.

So It begin's, the torchlight 2/diablo 3. war TIME TO LOCK THIS UP!!!!!
my 5 cents:

- TL2 was made with ease; I mean no "hype train with no brakes".
- It's cheaper (price).
- Loot is way more rewarding. 1 year put in D3 i still can't find a single green (set) item, when in TL2 you can acquire them simply from quest rewards.
- Quests is rewarding!
- Day/night cycle.
- LAN support.
- No internet required for single player.
- Mod support.
- PvP @ the launch.
- Pet system is way greater than follower. At least, they don't talk, you know.
- Better story.
- You can make more custom character build, like ultra tanky tank.
- Loads of Sockets/Enchanting/Transmutation vs boring crafting/jeweling.
- Great atmosphere, especially music wise.

Can't point more pros at the moment...

The game is nothing like D3. In D3 you have no skill tree, No skill points, you can’t create your avatar however you like, you can’t use or wear whatever you want and the map layout is always the same. All of the things you can’t do in D3 you can do in T2. So I don’t think you know what you are talking about.
