Rambren Skulls are listed with drop level 73 to level 999.
Lvl 73 mobs/chests probably drop them quite frequently since the loot pool is very limited, downside is that the other loot you get is crap.
Farming lvl 100+ Mobs would decrease the dropchance on Rambren Skulls, but increase the chance on more interresting uniques/legendaries.
So what you think is the best place to farm these really?
Yes that is what i think you have done MageThis, been upping your chance of dropping a unique/legendary but that is all. I never wear any mfind when skull hunting and have always dropped skulls.
I only ever put my mfind on when entering a new area, then i remove it and put my combat gear on, i find that works and i even drop legendarys in tombs just from killing the trash prior to looting the chests with no mfind on. But skull farming needs no mfind.
about rambren skulls, ive been finding so many that ive had to sell them. Farm the lava challenge phasebeast on act III NG+ (sundered battlefields), also see this video ->

fun fact: you can also stock up on riechliu there!
Edit: Tarrochs Tomb
Go to the "Mapworks" then buy and play maps that are level 48 to 55.
I stand corrected... I think I was using a mod that made all the dungeons match my level... thanks for pointing that out.
Mapworks is a very slow way to gain said skulls. Skulls depend on the level of the map and ONLY drop from blue chests. They are also unaffected by MF.
The absolutely BEST way to farm these skulls is the phase beast challenge in the frosted hills in NG+. The Protect The Crystals challenge to be precise. There are 4 blue chests there. Easy to do, fast and repeatable as ♥♥♥♥. Start a LAN game, reroll world and look for the phase beast in the frosted hills. Once in the challenge, do the challenge but do not exit through the red portal. Instead, quit the game and re-enter it in single player to repeat the challenge. Rinse and repeat.
I found 2 limoanies yesterday doing this. So it works. 100%.
About Rambren. Same deal but on NG + + + , Sundered Battlefield, avoid the lava challenge.
Doing normal gameplay player to choice what map level it will be, for map level 52-58 it is average 20% to get Limoany skull (based on how many different skulls (5) are in the game at this map level)
Doing NG+ Beast Challenge it is level 62, which makes 12% to get right skull (it is 8 different skulls at this map level).
Simple math gives us the answer: to get Limoany skull during normal play trough maps act1 52-58, skipping The Frosted Hills because it's level 62, or mapworks maps 55 level) you have to play 100% / 4% = 25 chests * 2 minutes * 5 different skulls / 60 minutes = 4 hours.
For Beast Challenge you have to 100% / 0.7% = 142 chests * / 4 chest per run * 50 sec = 35 runs * 50 seconds = 30 min * 8 different skulls / 60 minutes = 4 hours.
Beast Challenge has reduced chance to get Skull, but in average it is to player preference running Beast Challenge or doing normal gameplay to get a skull.
I stuck on farming Skulls from level 50 up 70, skill got only 4 skulls. Which is in my opinion too rare.
PS: math done for client 1.25.9.6, touching Golden flying Orbs also has chance to drop Limoany skulls about 4%. Good sailing skills you can improve timing significantly.
TL2 has a limit of 75% Total Damage Reduction available to equip so it would only be 3/4 of that time to farm. If using a Class that has 25% already like the Engineer or Berserker then it would only require 1/2 of that time to farm.
