Monster pop-in fixed yet?
I ask as waiting for an enemy to travel half way to me in order for it to appear is a bit piss.

(effectively neutering long range skills like fusillade)

As well as not being able to hit him/her/it while he/she/its in the fog of war.

fog of war?
monster pop-in?

you sure you got the right forum?
HerrDave Jan 18, 2015 @ 10:20pm
Surely thou know-est what I mean? I don't mean that there is a fog so thick in the game that it actually obscures the enemies, but the figurative fog.

Example - if you walk south of an enemy around 10 strides or so, they vanish even though they are still on-screen and they become invincible. You can fire your weapons all day long exactly where they are standing and they won't drop.

Where as advancing north again but a few steps, they appear as if there wasn't any down-time from you leaving their little 'combat radius'.

Bleedin' bumper-knobs I'm aweful with words tonight.

I am wondering if they've expanded/fixed the combat radius of monsters to fill the screen, so they don't disappear if you get a further than 30 feet.

I have no idea what you mean. I am not sure if you even have the right game.

Hmm at least my game doesnt has the issues you describe. Monsters appear on the screen edges and if my weapons have the range I can hit and kill them. Never experienced monsters vanishing due to range even tho they were still on screen. Are you running any mods by chance?

Look for 'draw distance extender' or 'zoomy' in the workshop

I'm running no mods, but a particularly high resolution though.

The monsters appear fine (usually) on the left and right sides of the screen, on the bottom they have a bit of a delay (have to be 2 inches closer to center to appear) and on the top they have to be almost five inches close to the center of the screen to appear.

While they are not visible, they are invulnerable. I can spam prismatic bolt like the gnob I am and they'll just curl and fizzle with no target. Move half a stride up or down, and suddenly 'oh monsters!'

I presume subscribing to a mod will flag my character as 'modded' and that I'll have to start the game with the mod manager thing?

Being 100% unadjusted to mods in nearly any form, I have no idea what it'll do nor what I need to do to enable it.

Yes, this game has terrible monster draw distance by default.
Draw Distance (Done Right)[www.clockworkcore.org] is the best public draw distance mod available.
Characters who use mods will be labled as "modded".

You can use Rapid Respec to remove mod associations from your character/save.

The game wasnt designed to the resolution you are using. Instead of talking about a situation you caused yourself by using a much larger resolution - just turn the resolution down a notch or 2 until it works properly. Your resolution wasnt a thing when this game was made and probably not supported natively by the engine itself. If you want to use that resolution you are going to have to make a compromise by either using a FOV mod and thus disable the achievements and be flagged or change the resolution you are playing on.

Ah, I thank ye kindly good sir, though I can't see that far anymore, it fixed the pop-in and helped with getting the old D2 feeling, whot

I would just like to add that mods do not disable achievements and you can remove mods from (thus unflag) your character at any time.

I am not sure what resolution you use, but I have seen Torchlight II at some crazy resolutions before.

same problem here monsters appear suddenly sometimes.

So I guess this is basically unfixed. The mods that are mentioned often (Draw Distance Extended and Zoomy) are both broken for the current version of TL2.

It's REALLY annoying as an Embermage to be Teleporting around and POW right into a group of enemies that weren't off screen a second ago. Similarly dropping a Thunder Locus and teleporting back just to see monsters fade (and become invulnerable).

Makes the game feel really amateur, which is weird because the rest is so solidly polished.

I'm desperate for any fix to this, please help!

Was hoping for a working Steam Workshop mod instead of manual mod.
