invisible axe
In single player mode, impossible to see the axe in the hand of my character. Anyone know what is this bug ? Is there any solution for that ? Thx in advance for your answer.

Just had this happen in my game. The names are irrelevant, but it's the same model: single-handed, half-moon blade, greenish-colored. It's now occurred with three different axes that have dropped. They start appearing around level 20.

The weapons work just fine, but they're completely invisible in-game. Mo mods -- brand new playthrough on a brand new character. It's a vanilla issue.

I have never noticed this in all the years I have played the game. Maybe there is some compatibility issue with graphic cards or drivers on your systems?

Can you upload a screenshot of the axe please?

Possible, but I doubt it. Running on a system I built back in 2015, GTX 980 ti. No new-fangled RTX or anything getting in the way. Perfectly capable of running standard graphics like this. Plus, it's only the one weapon. If it were a driver issue, I'd expect to see a number of issues, not one, particular mesh and texture of the thousands that exist.

Weirder things have happened, though.

Posting pics in Steam discussions? I'd love to! Far as I know, there is no way. Best I can do is share a Dropbox link:

There are a series of pictures, where I equip various weapons. You can see that it's the one axe *model* (not a particular weapon) that is invisible, whether equipped in the main or off-hand. Other weapons are unaffected by the bug.

You can make any of your Steam screenshots public and then post the Steam link to them in a discussion. It took a little trial and error for me to figure it out the first time, but it's really not that hard.

Upload the screenshot. Then, choose "Manage Screenshots". Make the screenshot public. Then copy and paste the URL for the screenshot into the Discussion comment.

I can not recreate your bug because I can see them. Maybe you really have some driver problem.

It is true, posting pic's is way too complicated on Steam. First you have to make a screener, then upload and then you have to watch it online to be able to copy the link to it.

Here is my dual hatchet pic:

edt.: For further testing I tried those on the engineer too with the same result.

This is what I came up with from a search where people had a similar issue. Possible causes:

Mod causing the issue:

Linux machines - hardware skinning:

Thank you kindly! Never knew about this, and in the now nearly 20 years Steam has existed, I think I understand why I've never even once seen a picture posted here.

Interesting. Must be some weird thing on my end. Maybe I'll poke the drivers and see if it changes. Strange that it's only that, exact model.

No mods. Never used any for TL2.

Running Windows 10.

Happens in both single and multiplayer.

Also did a verify/repair right off the bat. No issues; didn't download anything. So the installation is clean. So odd. I'll post again if I figure it out.

Are these the green axes with 4 sockets by chance? I know items with unusual numbers of sockets can be invisible to others in multiplayer, but I've never been unable to see my own items in either case.

Another thing to try. It often fixes things that seemingly have nothing to do with it, but you can try exiting the game and deleting the local_settings.txt file. You'll have to redo your personal settings for the game, but doing this often fixes some really weird things. The file gets corrupted easily, and it won't be fixed by a Steam verification. Deleting the file is harmless. A new one will be created as soon as you start to play the game again.

If that doesn't work, then I'm wondering if the icon(s) for the hatchet are somehow corrupted or missing or something in the script is not triggering the icon to be used. However, a script issue should be fixed by the verify. Have you tried reinstalling the game?
