Do certain pets travel to/from town faster/slower?

My wife and I have been playing together. Both of us are on the same level (about 35). She has a badger; I have a headcrab. We're not using any mods.

I thought that pet travel time was based on distance from town. That is, each "zone" farther away from town (or deeper in a dungeon) would increase the time. My pet started out returning in 30 seconds at the beginning of the game, but now takes 2 minutes even if I'm only 1 step out of town. So that leads me to believe it's not based on "distance" like I thought it was.

But my wife's pet returns from town within 30 seconds, and says it has always been that way for her. It only takes more time if we're in a dungeon or similar, which leads me to believe that it *is* based on distance as I initially supposed.

But what explains the discrepancy in the travel time between our pets?

The only reason we found out about this is because I found a scroll that changes my 2 minutes into 1:40 and I said "Awesome! I found a scroll that makes my pet return from town faster!" She asked how fast my pet traveled, and when I told her 1:40 she told me hers only takes 30 seconds.

Is it a difference in our pets? My headcrab hops around really slowly. Her badger is pretty fast. Is it a difference in our class? I'm an engineer, she's a berzerker. Did she unknowingly get some mystical special item that reduces her pet travel time?

What can explain this vast difference in the time it takes our pets to return from town?

I've googled and I can't find any reference to pets taking different times for different players, except from a scroll or minecraft sword. But we've never been in a minecraft cave, so I'm finding it pretty hard to believe that she has unwittingly equipped something that so drastically reduces her pet's travel time. But maybe I need to check out her gear a little more thoroughly the next time we play. . .

She may have spells or items that increase this.

Spell would be Animal Handling; 4% pet and minion Damage
4% pet and minion Armor
8% decreased pet town travel time. Increases by 4% for pet dmg/armor, 8% travel time each level.

The sword in question is the Iron Sword.
2 of them would double the stats.

Yeah, that's the thing. I'm pretty sure she doesn't have Animal Handling. But I do. I have Animal Handling Rank 2.

And she definitely doesn't have the minecraft swords. We're only level 36. Those swords are level 96 weapons.

So how come her pet retruns from town in 30 seconds but mine takes 1:40 (used to take 2:00 before Animal Handling)?

I think it does go faster depending on the map...? Have you already tried having both of you send the pets from the exact same place at the same time to see if they still take different times?

But there are more weapons and armor that decrease the travel time, inspect her equipment to see if she has any, the stat is called "X% decreased pet town travel time"
