Why would Diablo 3 adventure mode be roguelite?
The author of this thread from the TL2 discussion board https://steamcommunity.com/app/200710/discussions/0/3823036783906005682/ said :
If you play some rogue-lite games like Hades or Diablo 3's adventure mode (which the mod is named after and is often referred to as a rogue-lite mode) you might better understand it.

I thereby replied to them, saying:
How is Diablo 3 adventure mode considered rogue-lite? There is nothing roguelike about it. Not even procedural generation.

Or rather, what do you personally consider to be roguelike in Diablo 3 adventure mode?

The author did not want to reply on that thread, saying it was off-topic and was derailing it. They encouraged me to create a thread to discuss it.

So @tukkek there you go: why do you think D3 adventure mode is roguelite?

I actually did search for it, but found nothing backing up that claim: https://www.google.com/search?q=D3+adventure+mode+roguelite

Maybe because of the Permadeath? I guess the more accurate description is that:

"Diablo has roguelike elements."

Instead of the blanket statement

"Diablo is a roguelike game."

Yeah but the hardcore option is not specific to adventure mode. I do not see what adventure mode brings new that would make D3 be more "roguelike". Maybe they meant that the game selects randomly places to go, so maybe it's like a random level generation; but there is no difficulty increase from one area to the next (monster stats scales with player level) so it's not really roguelike to me.

Otherwise I agree that you could say D3 has roguelike elements: some dungeons are generated randomly from assembling tiles, presence of hardcore mode, randomized loot, some level of randomization in the encounters.. But it doesn't have enough to make it a roguelike or even roguelite game.

Anyway, I guess we will never really know what tukkek meant
