Question About Co-op
I had a question about the co-op for any who might know. Mainly how it works if there are differences between levels in characters. So me and a friend are levels 20 and 21, what would happen if another friend of mine joined with a new character at level 1? Would the mobs scale level to him or he'd just level fast from killing crap? He'd have to start at the beginning and work through the quests up to us or would he be on the same quest as us? etc. Not sure how all that works in Torchlight II.

The hosting player's level is the one the game tries to adjust maps for.
More importantly; every player needs to destroy enemies as close as possible to their level for maximum experience gains (100% at matching level).
Being over the level of a map or too low under will inflict experience penalties.
It drops something like 4% less gains when above map level by one level or below by 4 levels.
And it grows larger when below 4 levels or above 4 levels.
Higher leveled players can assist the lower level players in lower level maps as experience is shared however high level players won't over-level that much at all while the lower level players will catch up.

Lower level players won't gain much experience if the higher level players try to help share experience by playing higher level maps above the lower level players.

So the best option for the much lower level players is to play maps at their lower level while the higher level players can provide good defense against enemies.

Enemies are also much more defensive when more players are nearby and less defensive when less players are nearby.
