Trying to decide on what class to play (Synergies mod)

So I'm trying to figure out what class to play as. Started with a Ranger but I'm not sure if I want to keep going with it. Embermage, Warlock, Outlander, Necromancer, Engineer. They all sound cool but I have no idea how they each play like. Can't find anything online in the way of videos or descriptions.

The only thing I have for comparison is Diablo3. Played several hundred hours across all the classes. Crusader was my favorite and Monk 2nd fave. Any suggestions on who to play as, or descriptions of the classes? Who's got the funnest/coolest skillset?

The reason I'm not really liking Ranger so far is that the melee skill tree (wanted a dual-wield melee) seems to be based around strengthening autoattacks.

this build is so cool. I can easily kill the Bosses on Elite mode with synergy. Maybe you should go to the guide section and browse the guides there? I know that its a basic class but I really like it.

Never got around to Synergies, so I'll just give you an idea of the vanilla classes.

Berserker: Speed demons. Fast, frenetic gameplay.
Embermage: Crowd control. Wide AoE damage.
Engineer: Defense. Can be melee, ranged, or summon an army.
Outlander: Gunners. Great for disabling targets at short range or sniping at long range.

if you love crussader then you should play as paladin but not so sure if it has similar skills to crussader (well I haven't played diablo 3), and if you looking for Monk... well there's a few monk classes mod in workshop , for example: this one is good too http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=275166654

The Warlock is fun. Plays similar to the Embermage, but can be built more around combat potential as well. If you want a minion summoner, go with the Necromancer, he can have a whole lot of them and is great for crowd control as well. The Paladin is the Warlock inverted, less magic potential, but more than the average fighter and is rather tanky if you go with the 1H-weapon+shield combo. Synergies works well with the Far East mods, which add 7 additional classes.

Isn't the Paladin still in Alpha? I noticed that one or two skills, at least, still don't have a tier 3 bonus. Is it still usable in a non-complete state?

The Paladin is still a WIP, but decently playable. The class is being tweaked as far as I know.

Firstly you should write what difficulty and SC or HC

I'd stick with one of the vanilla classes, esp. if you're new to the game. Chances are you're screwing up your char and while you can respec in synergies it doesn't help you to come up with a concept. Without a concept and a point here and a point there approach things get hairy pretty quickly even more so in synergies

With vanilla classes you can always fall back to a guide, there're some decent guides (and some not so decent) on the net and on steam. Once you know what to expect you can start experimenting with custom classes. My 2 cnet

In any case i would advice Engineer summoner. This is pretty decent in def and damage. I started to play from zero without any gear and ended pretty cool to NG+ (HC elite)

as i think, the class that suit with defender / monk is engineer, with his healbot, bulwark and forcefield :D enjoy ur game mate, im fellow engireer too xD and just like you i like tanking stuff lol
