Firewall Error Detected
Hey Guys,

I'm getting a 'Firewall Error Detected' error message whenever I try to connect to and play with a friend online. I have created new inbound and outbound rules in Windows Firewall as well as tried to connect via my VPN but nothing seems to be working. Any tips?

Have you tried Hamachi (or alternatives) / Lan / Port Forwarding?

LAN isn't an option. I should not have to purchase a virtual LAN. My ports are forwarded.

I have this link stored under the title, "Firewall Problems". Maybe there is something in the thread that can help you.

I appreciate the help but both my friend and I tried the multiple fixes put forth in this thread to no avail. I guess we'll have to wait for a fan patch.

We got the game yesterday a friend and I, but we have same issue :) ; I tried all either with Bitdefender and then via Windows Defender Firewall, but still same issue xD

As mentioned on the thread I posted in my previous comment, sometimes the issue is completely unrelated to actual Firewall proiblems. As one commenter said on that thread:

Nope, but it turns out that the "firewall problem" message had nothing to do with the crashing/connecting. Guess that message really means nothing. It was a mod order issue.

This would make sense if I had mods installed, but I don't. Completely vanilla here and still unable to connect.

The point is, that it might be something else that seems completely unrelated. That one person found out it was a mod problem. For others it might be something else. I'm just encouraging you to think creatively.

I'm sorry you are having this problem. I know it might not be worth it to explore so many possible causes/solutions. Perhaps, with newer systems, there are some other hardware or software issues, driver issues, or whatnot, that are involved. It's a headache to have to sleuth around for solutions on older games. I hope you can find the cause soon.

Yeah. I hope so too. Thanks for your input, I really do appreciate it. I have updated my system recently but my friend has not. He has the same problem that I do. We'll do some creative thinking though, and see what we can come up with.

If you DO find a solution, please let us know. I keep files on problems (and their solutions) that people have with Torchlight 2. Every time something new comes up, and people find a solution, I try to add it to my files.
