Advice on eng summoner build
Hi,

I have read through several guide and stumbled upon various types of summoner build but I am confused about the stats allocation. Some famous summoner build like bjaranas requires you to go full VIT. I am just thinking to myself if it will be viable because wouldn't I run out of mana to summon spider mines and such?

Another version of summoner build I came across is the Robomancer here at steam guide. The stat distribution is more spread out between the different main stats but I am thinking if it will be viable or not.

Please help me and perhaps point me in the right direction for building a good summoner eng. Also it would be helpfult to tell me where I can get those summon scrolls/spells for pets and myself.

Thank you!

Pure Focus is what you want. With a summoner build it's better to go pure Focus because of the mana (and it also optimizes flat-damage skills if you want to consider any, like Dynamo Field or Shield Bash or Seismic Slam, an Engineer with a minion build could use Dynamo Field or Shield Bash to actually generate charge for Forcefield). Even for a summoner build, Vit is still pretty much useless (shieldblocking also matters less if you're an Engineer because Forcefield overrides shieldblocking the damage anyway). And Str and Dex don't make any difference for minions.

The scrolls are just random. You get them as you get them. If you have 2 spares, you can transmute them into another random one.
Do consider using the normal skeleton scroll if you find it, it has no limit, you can keep making more every 9 seconds.

Well fully building around one stat makes literally no sense as a summoner. As far as I know pets don't really benefit from any stat so the best way would be to spread the points out, so you get max block (it's not very worth it to put more points into vitality after that), some extra mana and enough stats to equip required gear.

As for scrolls, I would suggest visiting vendor, it seems like best source to get any scrolls you might be looking for.

But literally no stat matters for minions, so the only relevant ones are Vitality if it helped you plus Focus, which helps a ton and is obviously the only thing with big value, there's no reason to put the other ones over more Focus. (500 Focus means +250MP and +10 MP regeneration p/s)
Besides giving the MP to better summon and also use other skills more (spiders every second, summons, Forcefield, Onslaught as debuff and teleport, DynamoField or ShieldBash for control and charge generation, also Tremor and/or EmberReach for the physical weakness to boost minions, maybe also ShockGrenade or SeismicSlam for stuns), you get to deal the maximum damage of the flat-damage skills while at it even though you're still minion-focused. (DynamoField and ShieldBash can actually get surprisingly strong with Focus besides filling charge super well)

And putting stats just to equip items is technically a total waste, because everything can be equipped just by leveling up enough instead of wasting permanent points. (except for the LV105 items which need stats, but the stats they need besides Embermage stuff makes no sense and stacking Borris to fill those is the best way anyway, with Borris being the best endgame enchanter even regardless)

Thank you for the replies guys! The discussion board seems so dead that it is surprising to get a reply around here.

So how should my stat allocation be like every level? and is 2h engineer better than summoner engineer on a softcore veteran run? Please advise! Most of the guides and build I see now are either outdated or irrelevant so it makes it hard for me to stick to a build.

Has anyone of you looked at the robomancer guide over here at steamwork shop? Is it legit?

Thank you!

Personally found resummoning every few seconds to be a pain, but summoner engineer is valid. Had a lot more fun on my Emberquaker though.
