Waiting for response from Steam...
When starting the game-"launcher" shows only the option without the mods. The second button is greyed out and "Waiting for response from Steam..." shows only. After an hour or so it says that it timed out and it is possible to start the game with mods, but I don't really want to wait for an hour just to play a game. Please help to resolve this issue. All other answers in the forum from the past couldn't give me any answer and I hope that someone else found how to resolve this by now.

How many mods were subscribed? May want to open the Launcher with fewer mods. Can use Steam's "Favorite" feature to place mods on a list without them all loading together until ready to subscribe them again.

I have 11 mods I subscribed to. A lot of other mods are on the favourite lists already. I will try and tell the results in few minutes.
The game works well in offline mode, but I want Steam to record my gametime and achievments.

Ok. So I unsubscribed from all mods and the 'Waiting for...' is still the same :/ :cozyroe:

I solved this. How-To for everyone who needs this, may be a temporary solution, but why not:

1. Download the demo version of the game from the official site.
2. Delete or (better) backup ModLauncher.exe in the main game directory
3. Copy ModLauncher.exr from the Demo-Folder into your Torchlight 2 Steam Folder
4. Start Torchlight 2 from Steam as you normally do
5. Start with mods (without connecting with SteamAPI though)

P.S.: I think you may want to download your mods manually when you are going to use this method further as it doesn't update or add any mods onto your computer.

Hi @AF. Was going to suggest the manual DL u mentioned.
Also a good idea to __not__ use steam cloudsaves for similar reasons as ur original issue.

Hi there! Do you mean that cloudsaves are what does not let my game communicate with Steam API? The first time I installed the game this year (hah) it worked good, but today this was the issue.

The Steam Cloud often does not sync with TL2. A lot of us disable it for this game, and make manual saves of the Save and Modsave file.

For a number of my games, I create two folders on my desktop. One folder is a link to the location of the game's files. The other folder contains a bunch of sequentially-numbered sub-folders that contain the save files. This second folder can also be a link to, say, a thumb drive that you are storing the saves on (if you don't want to leave them on your hard drive). If you want to get fancy, you can change the folders' icons to a TL2 icon that you can find in the game files.

Sometimes, if I've been playing for a good while, I'll Alt+Tab from the game and make a quick copy, but I also make sure to do a copy after every session has ended. The location of the files for Windows 10 computers is here:

Wow, that's .. a lot of work just to play this game. I mean.. What do you need all those save files for!? I play only on one device, don't really want to backup anything online.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
