Are you playing on a pc or on Switch?

Some people using Switch have had this problem:

Also, I got this on an internet search:

"A first possible solution is to turn down your Shadows setting. For some people this solves the problem. If this doesn't work, you can try to turn down other graphics such as Bloom (as mentioned by the OP) down as well.
If this doesn't solve the problem either (or for people playing Torchlight II on Linux in Wine and having sound issues) it can help to increase the program's priority.
In Windows this can be done by simply launching Torchlight II and looking up torchlight2.exe in the Processes tab of the Task Manager. Once you found the process, right-click it and select Set priority > High.
In Linux this can be done by using the nice command to launch Torchlight II with Wine. "

This was the problem for someone else:

"It seems to be an issue with my headset when it's plugged in via USB. Game has sound when it's unplugged."

and I guess you saw this thread:

I expanded a bit on this[github.com] and corrected the paths for my system, and now it works. I don't know whether all the links are necessary, but these are the ones I added:
ln -s /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6 ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libjack.so.0 ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libjack.so.0 ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2 ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2 ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/alsa-lib ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/alsa-lib ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6 ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libjack.so.0 ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libjack.so.0 ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2 ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2 ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/alsa-lib ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/alsa-lib ln -s /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1

The link he gives has other solutions, as well, for all Steam games where there is no sound when JACK server is being used, whatever that is, for Linux systems. That link has other commenters giving other links to solutions as well.

Everything else I could possibly find from a search of "no sound" on these TL2 Discussions pages:

If you have any sound enhancing apps or programs then they would have to be turned off.

There is also this link that Steffire gave someone:

Someone else's solution:

Edit: I seem to have fixed it with an alternate method. I was looking through my computer's display settings & I saw that my TV's refresh rate was set to 59 hertz so I changed it to 60 so it would match my game's refresh rate. This solved the problem &, at least, 2 other problems."

Oh, I figured it out. There are something conflict with torchlight II by using 'vc2010redist_x86', and 'vcredist_x86'. Mine is Razer staff. I opened the task manager and end everything about Razer. Then it works.

Another person's similar problem and solution:

Razer Kraken 7.1 chroma (2015) headset, game has no sound outside of cutscenes. Any idea on what could be causing this and fix it? I've reset the game, reinstalled, deleted, updated, changed, tried just about everything Google could help me find to no avail. Would really appreciate any help. It's driving me nuts.

Edit: Fixed it by disabling the Kraken Chroma APO helper on startup, and ending the Kraken Chroma process in task manager. Worked perfectly so far.

Another person's issue with their headset and their fix:

I do not mean to be demeaning at all, so don't be miffed. This is just one possible idea.

You hover over the sound icon in the system tray, right-click, and select Playback Devices. Usually two to four possible playback devices appear. Try to find your headset, select it, and then click Set Default, then click OK.

That is the only way I can hear sound through my headset on some games. I use a Razer Carcharias headset.

If that does not solve the problem, sorry. It works for me.

Another person's fix:

This happened to me as well. For some reason the T2 patch switched my default audio to my headphone jack. I switched it back to my monitor but thought it would be nice to post the solution here. Hope it helps!

To fix:
Right click the speaker icon in the lower right
Select playback devices
Select the correct device and set it to default

You can try deleting your local_settings file to reset all the preferences, just in case that file got corrupted. The game will make a new one, so it can't hurt anything and you can reset your preferences. On Windows 10 it is located in this folder:

This PC\Documents\my games\runic games\torchlight 2

You can also have Steam verify the integrity of your game files, or you can have Steam uninstall and reinstall the game.
