That will be much better suited to your temperament if you're all about instant gratification rather than long-term or deeper gameplay. Best of luck to you with that!
On a side note, I'm always amused when I'm level 80 in PoE and literally level 1 skill gems drop from enemies. I literally had Herald of Ash drop from Act 10 the other day (item-level 20 gem on a mosnter-level 60 area). I guess (for some) a game that drops gear 60-80 levels behind you is better than a game that drops gear 10 levels ahead of you (that you can plan and build towards) as long as it's instant gratification.
Oh well, different games for different gamers, I guess. I know which one I prefer, at least!
That's not even to mention how Path of Exile drip-feeds gear upgrades to you on a much slower rate than Torchlight II does, especially at end-game! But hey it does have loot explosions all the time even if they never give you anything even remotely good, so it really appeals to those "screen goes boom all the time" type of player.
When choosing which reward to accept, you can always mouse over the items and see what level they are for, or what stats you need to equip them, if you aren't at the correct level for it.
It's As broken as tukkek getting low level gems at level 80.
You telling me that coders that coded this could not...
1. Look at the character level.
2. Give item the character can use.
I did the quest and STILL have no chest armor!!
If you think a less streamlined and not immediately-gratifying game design is offensive to your gaming tastes, then, by all means, go back to playing Path of Exile as you said you would.
Other games with item requirements in the form of class-specific gear, minimum level or minimum attribute requirements:
- Path of Exile
- World of Warcraft
- Diablo 3
- Grim Dawn
- Last Epoch
"Game design 101"? Please.
I have played all the game you listed above (bar Last Epoch).. I have never seen any of them give a reward that is miles out of my level. Some give items I can't use. Sure. But the item level should not be a factor.
Yes, Game design 101.. The games you listed, who do it right, are some of the biggest most popular games ever.
This should matter to the game developers. I have abandoned T2 for this very reason alone. How may others have tried it to find how broken it is so early.
I have been playing Grim Dawn.. I find gear I can't wear. Like heavy armour (Playing a medium armour wearer) . Or stuff I can't equip because I have not enough points into some skill. That is fine. Usually 1 or 2 levels to sort that out. I can find at item that is level 34, while I am level 33.
But I NEVER find an item that I can not equip for 8 levels!! Imagine being level 65, and finding an item you cannot equip till level 73. If you cannot see that as broken, then good luck with Torchlight 2.
Or are you just one of the many people who keep coming over here trying to find an excuse to advertise Grim Dawn. I put that game on my "bad games" list just because of all the nasty people from that game who keep coming over to these discussion pages to do that. Is Grim Dawn really that hard up to find players that they need to constantly send players over to the Torchlight discussion pages to advertise it?
This should be easy. Do a level 5 quest. Get a level 5 reward.

You idiots passing this off a troll posting are not seeing the issue here. (Much easier to say "troll' than have an original thought. Just go back to the game and leave the discussion to the big boys)
That has NEVER happened in a game I have ever played. 1 level maybe. But in those games if the item was one level higher, I know I worked hard for it. Maybe even had a buddy help..
This TL2 game just goes.. "oh, he finishing a level 5 quest.. Roll RND for level). Boom. Level 13 quest item that he will find a replacement for at level 11. So he can just carry it around until then).
Maybe this works for you (like the dude above lamenting that at high level he gets low level items). You don't see a problem here.. Good for you. Have fun.
Oh gosh, darn. I'm sorry for laughing so hard.
I'm guessing you are a young person, then. If you aren't a troll, then someday you will look back at this and get a little red in the face.
You claim to hate this game so much, and yet you keep coming back here and reiterating what you've already stated as your complaint. We already know what you claim to be upset about. We know that either you give up easily, or you are just having fun trolling. If you are really serious, I would think you would have moved on by now, but here you are still. So I'm more inclined to believe you are a troll.
