Engineer Build
Im trying really hard to come up with a decent build for elite for my next engineer, after trying many things i decided i really love the mechanical pets build aproach, plus is quite tanky.

The thing is, i want to spice things up a bit, i want to make fire and spark usefull but also keep the theme of the build, so the question is ..

Do spider mines scale with fire and spark ? do shock grenade scale with fire and spark, is focus needed to make the skill viable ? Any other skill to add to a vit heavy character that scales with fire and spark ? i also like damage over time, just saying.

Is there a nice and clean way to generate charges without spending too much points into a skill, so i can charge up my forcefields ?

Hello, Imyo!
If you want to play as summoner, you'd know that the only important stat is pet %.
As they stats, and dmg only increases with player level.

It'll be nice to have a charge build skill to deplete it on shield.

If are not an expert and you want to play Elite, i'd recomend you to go 75% block, going 1h/shield.

Get all the gear set by pet % and use lot's of mana pots if you need so.

i don't wanna spoil the pros and cons, but i can tell you i love the engi summoner.
it's a very great damager, and a funny char to play.

hope you get good luck!

Thanks for the reply man, i tried already like 15 different chars up to lvl 30 or so, purely on elite, its hard at some points but doable and thats just how i like to play, im just worried about the lategame, typicaly the best part of any game.

I really want to use grenades, is that a bad skill ? is it worth investing in fire and spark to do something besides summoning even if im not going focus ? or should i add some focus into the mix ?

Healing Bot and Forcefield are a must for any Engineer. Immobilization Copter will make enemies useless while your summons deal with them.

Never played a summoner Engineer, after I finish playing my current Engineer I will make my third a summoner.

Gun Bot and Sledgebot will be your basic combat summons, you might want to go for Spider Mines too (Not sure how powerful they will be on Elite).

As for Fire and Spark, it will likely not improve your summons, just your character and his/her damaging skills. Shock Grenade for example, once again I'm not sure of its power as I mostly roll Emberquake which would destroy everything and make summoning pointless. Fire and Spark may just take up to 15 points away that you could use on defense skills.

If you're a really focused gamer and you never let Forcefield down then you wont have a problem though it is very likely on Elite it will go down and you may get downed by a one hitter. Having a shield with good block instead of a cannon with lots of pet gear would do wonders. That's a gameplay choice though, do you want to stand back and summon or maybe take part with a cannon.

If you go non melee then Dynamo Field would make sense, a melee engineer would gain more charges with single mobs using Shield Bash instead where as Dynamo Field is better in a crowd of mobs.

I am not sure if Charge Domination works if your summons kill mobs.

You might want to put some points into Bulwark for extra armor and damage reduction incase Forcefield goes down.

If you choose to use a cannon instead of a shield which means you can retreat and stay back then Blast Cannon would mean there is no need for Fire and Spark and is said to be better than Fusillade which might require it for more damage meaning Blast Cannon would save those 15 points for defense.

Since you are going as a summoner then I doubt the end game engineer gear will be important to you so you can spend your stat points on Vitality and Dexterity however you like. Vit first if you use a shield and Dex first if you use a Cannon, Block, Dodge, or both.

Thanks for this tips, im cracking my head trying to figure out how to be usefull and not stay back and watch my summons do 100% of the job, I wanted to stay true to a theme but its not that easy in this game due to the needed min maxing to do high level content while playing on elite.

Im going to try tho, so this is the final result for my next engineer try at elite:

- Shield and pistol (maybe some dot or mana per hit to make it usefull) to stay in the mechanical theme (pistol) or a mace if i can find something like a wrench or similar.

- 4 vit 1 dex.

- "Core" Skills:

Healing Bot 15
Sledge Bot 15
Spider Mines 15
Gun Bot 15

Storm Burst (1 point)

Force Field 15
Immobilization Copter (1 or 15 points?)

- I dont know skills:

Dynamo Field
Shock Grenade
Tremor
Bullwark
Shield Bash

I wonder if i can do decent dmg with anything without str or focus apart from pets. Or if its a good idea to go for a different ratio of attributes to be usefull with those skills, like for example 2focus 1 dex 2 vit ? Do i need str for the crit dmg ? Im talking about Dynamo field, shock grenade and shield bash mostly.

I really dont like ember reach, it just feels off, im going to skip it even knowing its really good.

Yeah i like roleplaying and themed builds, but i also like to play on the hardest difficulty, i allways have this problem :D

I'm glad you enjoy Elite, not many do. If you struggle with levelling keep in mind that you can host an online game (In private if you want) and reduce the difficulty, that way Elite characters can play on normal and so on.

Most builds don't level well on Elite unless they are Elite levelling builds, meaning they are not min/maxed by end game. Normalising the difficulty online will give you a break if Elite becomes a drag. I have levelled on Elite once as a Berserker. Now I just enjoy levelling characters for Elite end game. I've levelled 3 Berserkers and 2 Engineers so far, the idea to create a play style based around each of the trees.

I wouldn't fuss over Shield Bash damage, it's okay, it knocks enemies back and slows their attack speed while giving you charge. Damage is based on your shields armour so I doubt any stats have an affect on it. You don't want Shield Bash and Dynamo Field at the same time, it's one or the other really, both serve the purpose of generating charge.

Bulwark really depends on the Forcefield, by end game a fully levelled Forcefield is very strong, though if you don't want to die while leveling, Bulwark would be a good idea. Keep in mind the high amounts of damage on Elite are mostly magic and Bulwark will have no affect on those, it will help if you're taking damage from melee or non magic ranged mobs.

I would put all 15 points into Immobilization Copter, that way it stops all casters it can get close to.
