When the game came out, people actually went through the game files to find out drop rates. From what I remember, the Giant Largemouth Bass does not drop in unmodded T2. If somebody trades you one, it was likely spawned via console.

Also, any hardcore character can trade with you, doesn't matter what difficulty they chose in single player.

i thought the only fish that you can have large of that does not have a unmodded fish is the bonefish. the largemouth i thought you could get a giant of only the odd ones like frenzy spider and prismatic and bonefish couldnt

I am pretty sure it can spawn but it's much rarer than the other giant fish. Sometimes the game behaves in unexpected ways even after examining the game files.

Oh man, I actually found the reddit thread I was thinking of:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Torchlight/comments/11m6re/anyone_have_drop_rates_for_fish/

If you scroll down a bit you can find the drop table, and as you can see, there are 6 permanent fish that can drop. The names don't match but they correspond to the six permanent versions of fish that drop in game: Jackal Bass, Warsnout, Tunnel Shark, Web Fish, Flying Fish, and Crab Egg.

This means "Pocketfish" and "Torsofish" correspond to Largemouth Bass and Bone Fish respectively, and the chance of finding a Big Largemouth Bass is 0.4%, twice as high as each of the giant fish.

I wanna say I caught one in the time it took me to finally get a Giant Flying Fish, but it's been long enough I can't be sure. As for drop rates, the lower level legendary weapons also have a zero weight, but they can still drop somehow. Even when looking in GUTS many things are obfuscated and it's difficult to get the whole picture.
