Chronos or Dungeon Alchemist?
Hi people!

I already own Dungeon Alchemist and make great use of it when it when it comes to quick and dirty enocounter maps. Can Chronos do anything that Dungeon Alchemist can't? The few reviews I could find on the front page weren't very positive but I love map-makers.

Chronos is still in its infancy and does have some bugs that need to be ironed out however the developers are very vocal and listen well to the community and things are getting fixed pretty quickly

However, when it comes to DA and Chronos I'd say it depends.

I own both and find myself still using DA when I wanna make D&D setting maps because its more flushed out with features. I however, run a lot of other settings like sci fi and cyberpunk red campaigns and Chronos has assets to make maps in Victorian era, Cyberpunk, Sci Fi and mediaeval.

You can mix and match all of these assets together to make some really interesting maps.

Also another thing I love about Chronos is you're not restricted at all almost. You wanna build a three story map? Just place a floor tile and raise it up!

The sci fi grate floor looks like it will make a good vent if placed on the wall? Rotate it to be sideways and move it to the wall. There's not an asset like a large opening garage door? Place a wall and use metal pillars laying down and stacked on eachother to make one.

My most recent stream on Twitch I was playing with Chronos and working on maps, if you wanna watch some highlits to see what Chronos is capable of go check it out over at Twitch.tv/frostipanda

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks a lot! I will give it a go and see how it turns out. I play a lot of Masque of the Red Death and Victorian assets sound just about right. :)

Since I've seen so many people ask about this I just made a guide to assist

I have used both and at this point, if you need it for medieval assets, then Dungeon Alchemist wins hands down. The only reason to use Chronos is because it has modern/scifi assets.
Main thing I've pulled off that was nigh-impossible in alchemist has been the Temple of Asmodeus for Hell's Rebels. Circular walls all over the place.

Here's what the map looks like in the campaign book:

I think Dungeon Alchemist will have round walls in their next update. I so regret buying into Chronos (this program is utter trash compared to the competition), but we live and learn I guess.
