Is Chapter 2 too early for the labyrinth?

I've been running with a candlestick and enchanted armors up until now but that strategy falls flat on its face here where every enemy can kill the armors in no time and take a ton of hits to bring down. I can clear a room using Fireball but I end up having to use all of them and needing to take a trip back to Nowhere to make more and thats ONE room

Am I supposed to conquer this place now? And if so how? If I get lucky and its all one on one encounters I can get a ways in but as soon as its a pack of enemies or those robot looking guys who hit me with balls of curse damage I'm donzo

Chapter 2 has its own version of the Labyrinth and you can't do all of the things you can find there until Chapter 3 (since you don't have access to a certain area until Ch3's version of the House), but you can still explore basically the whole thing for loot and some NPCs and a boss.
