Possible no item loss mode?
Hey, first of all, the game is absolutely incredible. I understand that it is balanced over the item loss at death mechanics, but, having lost my items upon the first death after 3 hours of gameplay (including demo progress), it felt extremely disheartening, as as a perfectionist I feel obliged to clear everything once again (after I did again in the full game), and collect all items anew. The thought of doing that even AGAIN after another random behemoth gives me a oneshot is even more disheartening; I don’t want to play Narrative because I want normal difficulty.

So, the question: is the no item loss at normal difficulty considered in the future?

Edit: after playing more, this is a non-issue and it doesn’t matter too much or set you back a lot or often at all.

have you found the fountains that let you keep certain items you choose? One I found a few of those and started getting better rings/spells/items I am not dying as much.

Yes, of course. I just lost dozens of unsaved items and my ADHD forces me to clean the whole premise again to get as much, instead of proceeding with the story

It knocked the wind out of my sails as well. Thinking about starting all the way over to create a better build from the start and make better choices.

I need to play this game like a normal game instead of a roguelike. Like, no dead enemy respawn, no item loss, manual save and all that. Like a normal game. I am a total noob but this game is so pretty and the setting so captivating it is a shame.
95% of the death are completly not necessary and only from mechanics and clicking items in the inventory during fights.
Curse rot and terror are so annoying, the longer you play. It really should not do anything at max level.

Its really sad that the near total loss of items almost ruins the fun in this game.
One run I had like 45 medkids and then got killed by curse rot, bleeding and terror cause powerclicking the menu doesnt help.

Like what the... If you live for dedcades in this world, smashed thousands of mutans, ghosts and monsters, have insane amount of tools and weapons ...yeah sure... start running like a complete moron and let yourself bleed out or curse rot to death, cause some mutants that you killed thousand of times, are screaming. Sure why not.

Yeah pretty much. You can play really efficiently and stockpile sht and then a death comes out of nowhere and you’re simply robbed, without adding anything to gameplay. At least the items should be regainable until first death, like inventory in Minecraft or Dark Souls souls.

I mean, as a separate option in addition to classic mode envisioned by dev.

Yep, no manual save is UI fail 101. If I wanted to play a repetition simulator, I'd buy a corporate console.
The UI is so bad that people talk like typewriters.
Thanks for the demo.

This game was clearly not meant for you.

I finished act 1 without dying (aside from witch burning me in prologue which was scripted I guess) and its not difficult since you get plenty of heal items and candles by crafting.

So you stockpiled on tools, got too cocky and then died. If anything the Danger mechanic is too lenient and allows you to recover from anything if you stockpiled on healing items.

How does punishment for failure (death) not add anything to the gameplay ? If you just want to blitz through the game for the story, you can switch to narrative difficulty in the options.

Opening inventory in combat stops the time btw, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. Popping heal pack mid combat never was so easy.

oh, dying in a video game is too similar to dying in real life?
why can’t i keep my stuff and save?
what would Jesus/Buddah do?

After playing a bit more, I take my words back; it's truly a non-issue.

If your curse level is high enough, some chests appear that contain item from your previous run I think

^This^

Collect all the chests in a hallway, get cursed, then more chests might spawn in the same hallway (check your map for treasure icons)
