Is it possible to play with Rift S?
As the title says is it possible to play with just a Rift S and controllers? I understand that using just controllers should be fine on something like the Quest 2 but I cannot see Rift S being used in trailers or mentioned anywhere. That is why I am asking before purchasing. Thanks.

The biggest problem would be on the Rift S, the controllers need to be visible to the headset. Which is not a problem with Vive or Index controllers since it uses base stations.

My Rift S does not track correctly, constantly losing connection to the controllers since they are too far away from the headset being now on the feet.. Requested refund.. sadly, since the game looks fun... :/

I forgot to post my findings but yeah was exactly the same for me. The Rift S tracking simply does not work wit this game. Had to request refund as well.

Just wanted to drop my second opinion if anyone else reads this. For someone like me who's not ready to upgrade I found playing with the Rift S is still pretty enjoyable with a few adjustments to play style. In short, I found that playing with plenty of light and occasionally looking low (not directly down) is enough to keep the controllers calibrated. By the rift's design, taking back steps is also possible as long as you put the controller back in view after a few seconds. Don't expect perfect runs or pretty 3rd person models, but as far as gameplay it's serviceable.

Just got mine today and I'm running Rift S. No tracking issues and that was for a 7 year old all the way up to me.
