Warhammer Skulls in few weeks, anyone hoping for a Boltgun 2 announcement?
Focus who publishes this game and Space Marine 2 announced that they are making a Space Marine 3 two months back so there is definitely an interest in going hard on this franchise, and Boltgun sold very well with 13k reviews, so there is a financial incentive to make more.

Boltgun is set between space marine 1 and 2 on the same planet as 1, setting Boltgun 2 between Space Marine 2 & 3 makes a lot of sense.

They could just do more dlc of course, but the money will be in a sequel

Frankly, given that the game obviously needs no new engine, a fully fledged expansion would be very welcome, maybe adding a whole new class like Assault Marine.
It would certainly be a wasted opportunity if another DLC or sequel to Boltgun was not being planned, based on the overwhelming success of Space Marine 2. The timing for a release before this Winter would be ideal.

But we don't know what's happening behind the scenes. If the Boltgun developers had some other project already lined up then that could delay more Boltgun content. Also, we don't know if other Space Marine-type FPS games are licensed and already under development with different studios.
The interface clearly supports the adding of new characters, like this was the intention of the devs when they made the game. You can see it when you start a new game.

Therefore I really hope for a new fully fledged 3+1 acts campaign with the choice of a new character and the ability to replay the old campaign with the new character.

An assault marine with lots of melee weapons would be the logical choice. Think of it as the Fighter from Hexen.
They could also rearrange the enemy placement and choice to balance the more melee focused combat, just like Hexen.
