great game, maze is intentionally a joke?

i'm stuck in the absolutely pointless maze game and wondering if that means the game is half done already, this feels like an intentional stumbling block to keep the game above exactly 2 hours. no reason at all, just a wild guess

The developers added a Navigation feature. Check the menu settings for the command, and using the Navigation feature will make a trail briefly appear that might help you get out of the maze-like area.
