Does anyone have any tricks on fighting Aspiring Champions?
Also, is there a way to guarantee they won't turn into chosen champions?

These guys always seem to chunk me before I can finish them. I just try to run away and plasma / heavy bolt gun spam them, but sometimes the terrain layout is unfavorable. Wondering if there are any tricks.

Heavy Bolter deals with them very well, also Melta Gun and the Volkite Caliver tears them apart if you feel wasteful with their ammo.

The trick to not have them resurrect is to blow their corpse up, i.e. keep shooting a bit with the Heavy Bolter and they will turn into a bloody mess, and there's no getting up from that.

Thanks, I had a feeling it was just blowing up the corpse, but I was second guessing myself since I think I shot the corpses but maybe didn't fully blow them up a couple of times. heh.

Heavy bolter from any vantage point they can't reach, plasma gun shots from a distance, krak grenade to his stupid face, gravcannon because even gravity hates their ♥♥♥♥, meltagun because no remains means not even the Dark Gods can bring his dumbass back.

Hell, even a quick chainsword to the face when he's low on health to mash the body to red goo is acceptable.

They are easy. Chainsword deals with the really well. Soften them up from range and finished them off with the sword. DONT STOP SAWING UNTIL THEY ARE PASTE. This is important as they can do their resurect move if you leave them in one piece.

Later on the Vengeance launcher and Laser Link gun is good for them too. HOnestly they are easy just need to be ready for em.
Just tap them with sword everytime they charge. They will get stunned and stop. On nax difficulty you can't saxthem for too long at a time or they will -100 hp you.

gib them on kill every time, it guarantees that they won't become chosen champions

just hold down the tirgger till they explode into gore, that way they can't resurrect as champions.

Keep shooting to gib them, or use chainsword when they are low on health.

I'm starting to think they might not resurrect if they don't do any damage to you. I've had multiple instances of gunning them down from range, their corpses still in one piece, but they haven't gotten back up.

Anyone else experiencing that?

I had them dying without resurrecting, but i definitely had times when they have done no damage to me yet still resurrected after death.

So maybe its random?

Yeah quite possibly. It's odd because when I first had to deal with them and was still finding my feet, they resurrected all the time. Now that I know what to do, even without gibbing their body, I rarely see it.

This is correct, and it's also just their melee attack that will have them resurrecting. So you can also hop onto a wall or rock and take them down. They'll attack with plasma, which won't cause them to resurrect - though I'd recommend dodging it regardless.

Another thing that will stall their charge is beaning them directly with a grenade. Even if it doesn't explode immediately, stopping their movement means they'll get caught in the blast. Along with that, even standard bolter fire will kill them before they reach you.
