Not sure if they stop altogether, but at least got to a point where only one or two enemies would spawn in. The layout of the arena makes it pretty easy to avoid the boss, the most important thing seemed to be clearing out the two waves of screamers, after that you can easily move about while killing mobs.
At that point it was easy to play peakaboo with the Lord of Change until it was finally dead.
There are some later fights that I wonder about how possible they'd be on Exterminatus without a vortex grenade. The chapter 2 boss seemed insane to me, then I remembered I had a vortex grenade and beat him on the next attempt in less than a minute.
I get the impression the game hasn't been balanced particularly well for Exterminatus, given how it's mostly trivial except for one or two outrageously tough parts.
Then don't cheese it.
I mean the fact you had to google this tells us you were really struggling in-game.
Also the Lord of change stops being a 1 time boss and will be a re-occurring enemy type.
As fast as you notice that attack break line of sight with him. It's hitscan so you have to hide.
I will try, ty I'm going to launch a game just to observe because I haven't yet noticed when he's going to launch this attack.
No you can't and it's dumb as ♥♥♥♥. A hit scan attack that you can't fully dodge. It will hit you every time at least once. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.
Ha, not quite. That's my video. I've beaten the game already on hard and am going through again on extermanatus, currently back in Chapter 2. While I wouldn't say I'm struggling YET, I'm sure some of them Chapter 3 fights will give me a run for my money.
So, that's not entirely true. I wasn't 100% sure on this until taking a little bit of time to mess around in this level, the vid being a byproduct of that.
There is actually a telegraph and delay before the attack. It's just somewhat hard to read and doesn't have an audio cue the way an archvile does. For some of it's attacks, the Lord of Change raises its staff. For the hitscan attack, it moves its sword arm in front of it and a pink glow appears there.
If you wait for the pink glow, it'll probably be too late. But there are two other options. You can break LoS as soon as you see that sword arm move if you feel comfortable doing so. Alternatively, you can peek out from cover and fire 4 plasma shots and duck back. That won't give it time to use the hitscan attack.
Well, I don't think it's illegitimate in this level. But I do think that getting used to a non-vortex kill is better, because I don't know that you'll have a vortex grenade and setup like this every time they pop up. This is probably the best place to get comfortable with the Lord of Change's attacks.
Although I didn't pistol start this level, which I suppose would be the old school challenge.
