In the airlock right after the room you arrive in, press the switch in the middle to cycle the airlock
Look into the Great Elevator. Just inside, you cross over a chasm and then there is a 3-way split in the walkway. There is an open cargo container on the right.
Get on top of the cargo container.
From the top of the cargo container, you see two large areas with laser beam fences. There's a pathway that leads between them.
Look ABOVE that pathway between the laser fence areas. You can just barely see the red key from here. You can make it across with a dash-leap and skip part of the madness.

Number 1, you are a saint, thank you.
Number 2, this level is awful. I read reviews saying the level design in this game is bad and confusing and up until this point I thought it was fine. But I don't know what the Devs were thinking with this one. Why not at least make where the control room is obvious, and allow the keys to be found in any order?
It's a cool level, but I think there's just too many layers to it, which adds even more to the confusion.
