So do I manually have to make our Space Marine talk and taunt opponents?
In the demos and developer playthroughs for Boltgun you would hear the Space Marine enthusiastically taught his opponents when defeating them.

But during my playthrough so far (only 4 missions in) I have not heard the Space Marine say one word.

So does the SM _not_ automatically talk in reaction to combat events? Or did you have to make the SM talk yourself by pressing the Taunt commands?

I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious.

I like it when people answer their own questions and don't realize it, it's kind of funny xD

You don't see how it's silly one can play through the entire game and not have to make the Space Marine say anything? What was the point of hiring the voice actor? lol

In the older FPS Duke Nuke 3D, the Duke character would talk and give taunts on his own, though the player could also give taunts manually.

I'm too busy dealing with combat to make the Marine speak in the middle of it- just stuns me the developers didn't put in triggers so the Marine speaks on his own once in a while.

Also, for modern FPS the Taunts are mainly added for multiplayer, for which this game doesn't have that, obviously.

Mock all you want, but it was a bad oversight the Marine won't talk on his own.

Well i belong to the players who check all options befor i start a game and the controls belong to the options. I would never miss something, except its not in the options and kinda hidden for what ever reason (taht makes your gaming expierence much better, trust me). I did never understand how someone can just start a game without checking the options first, if im honest. So i say its your own fault if you dont check them. Im pretty sure most people check the options and controls and i guess nothing is more obvious then the word "taunt" keybinds, especially in a 40K game xD

If you are too busy dealing with combat to taunt, you are not good enough yet. Get better and you can taunt while fighting enemies. It's like complaining you can't taunt in Devil May Cry because the enemies hit you. Yes, that's what makes it impressive.

I mean really, in other games they complain because they dont have the freedom to say something when they want to. Now they have it and complain about it becasue they have to press a button for it xD

I agree with you. I think having our hero talk a bit and vocally react to things would make the experience better. It's weird they haven't inserted any of that in the game.

Look at this >>>

Do you think it would be better if they would talk all the time?

Space Marines are canonically stoic.

All great boomer shooters have auto taunting/insults every so often. No one wants to press an extra key in order to be immersed.

Devs should've added an option in game that you could enable to kick off an auto taunt every 100th kill.

You maybe should see it diffrent. When your charcter auto taunts when you dont want it, its annyoing. But now i can really taunt that a.hole that shot me in the back, right when i want to and guess what, i love it. Im normally a guy who likes automated things, im really a fan of qol stuff. But taunting is really something the player should initiate and if you have played EC and waaaghed with your ork mates you would know what i mean ;-)

Yes, but they still have personalities... or feelings, as it is shown when you manually use the taunt button. They could have randomly auto triggered one of these lines before a purge for example. It would only add to the experience.

THIS IS THE INTERNET AND I MUST COMPLAIN!!

I can guarantee without a shadow of doubt that if Malum automatically taunted there would be multiple threads on this forum about how his voice is annoying, all the lines suck and it should have been be optional.
