The music
Honestly the music is probably the game's only real weak link. When it's time to Purge, other than a screen tint it doesn't feel special. That's when the metal should crank up and you get a loud "For the Emperor!" as your screen fills with chunks and blood.

Honestly it plays great but it feels like the devs held back its full potential like they were worried it wasn't going to work out or something.

Agreed.

Luckily

exists. I recommend Noosphere for boss fights.

They should have gotten the guy who did Doom's music. Warhammer 40k violence with Doom music. Match made in heaven.

This is the only sound track you need for this game.

Yea they really missed the boat with the soundtrack, obviously they should have used Realm of Chaos by Bolt Thrower ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlTMjXMK3dc&t=1351s&ab_channel=CKRock

They used D-Rok's "Turn the Ship Around", another great band that based their album on WH40k

You are wrong, they aren't the pionieers. Only the most recognizable. The first ones were Sabbat with their "Blood for the Blood God" EP which was added to White Dwarf in 1987, about year before first Bolt Thrower album and 2 years before "Realms of Chaos"

According to a developer in Valrak’s chat, apparently the music isn’t set to to a particular fight or level, it changes with… something else, I forgot.
Soundtrack is not that bad guys. If someone likes Orchestral and Electronica / Breakbeat then it's a really nice OST for them. It's dark and heavy. It suits me right :mkheart:
Don't get me wrong, I also love many metal genres (except those too heavy with too hard growl)

Look at the history of the specific album I suggest:

"The artwork for their second album was created by John Sibbick under contract for Games Workshop[4] for the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook released in 1987. After Games Workshop heard the recording of the songs for Bolt Thrower's second Peel session, which was recorded on 6 November 1988,[2] they offered to supply the artwork for Bolt Thrower's album, an offer the band quickly accepted. The record was released in 1989, titled Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness,[4] after the 1988 book of the same name published by Games Workshop. Most of the lyrics to the songs were also influenced by the game, but not merely because of the deal with Games Workshop. Karl, Andy and Gavin were very much into the games Games Workshop produced and they wrote a couple of songs about these games, including "Plague Bearer" and "World Eater"."

Its not terrible, it just does not stand out as much as others in the genre.

If I'm honest I'm kind of burned out on boomer shooters with heavy metal playing non stop. To this day is will still say that AMID EVIL has the best and most atmospheric OST out of all retro shooters, with the recent CULTIC coming in fairly close.

The first chapter was average but I'm liking the music in the 2nd one a lot more (at least in the first few levels).

At the end of the day music is 99% subjective so it is what it is.
