Where is our Automap?
A general idea of a boomer-shooter is to have an automap so you can secret hunt as well as understand where you need to progress next. Quite a few missions have very same-y looking corridors, without any kind of a map it's just becomes a chore to navigate. What if I want to backtrack to get some secrets? I don't know what part of the map I haven't been to.. Etc etc etc

Would be great if automap is added as a part of post-release support. Just saying.

Yeah I bought this- booted it up, hit 'm' nothing- hit tab and nothing.

Doom 1 had a map, why doesn't this game?

Prodeus has an awesome 3D automap and HROT has a really useful 2D one. You're completely right, this game is so full of samey-looking areas and corridors (as well as symmetrical areas where it's difficult to know where you entered and where you're supposed to leave), it makes secret-hunting and general navigation more of a pain than it needs to be.

Yeah, not going to lie, great game, but not having a map sucks! It's the 41st Millennium here, I am pretty sure the servo skull or the Ultramarine has a map of the planet they are on. Those maps are horrible and you can get lost very easily! MAP PLEASE!

Dunno, the developers may not of had the budget or resources to build and test an automapping feature. I agree they should have added automapping.

The maps have a lot of verticality and a classic auto map would probably only confuse you more. I guess it's time to train your memory ;-)

I am pretty sure we are advanced enough for multi-level maps or 3D map like Doom or Prodeus ;)

You need a auto map to navigate, you are not advanced enough xD

(Just kidding)

Peace ;-)

It's a great game with a lot of nice everything for fans of retro fps games or Warhammer to love. That being said, early 90's games of multiple genres as well as table top rpgs have always had some form of mapping system (though it was admittedly one guy with some graph paper). Yes, I do understand dropping the modern trend of having big green arrows to hold your hand because knowing your exact objective really takes away the exploration aspect of any dungeon type setting. But I do agree with the detractors that having no auto map, no stage maps hidden is secret areas, or even something as simple as a compass adds a bad type of tedium to the equation. Anyone who has played the recent iterations of retro fps games knows that they should expect limited scenery variation, so that isn't where my problems lie. Ideally I would like a line map in the screen corner and maybe a 3-d map linked to tab. Or even just a map that shows other elevations with lighter line usage. I feel like devs making a Warhammer game that actually gets positive reviews right out the gate will listen to the community on something like this. I mean I would be really shocked if there was absolutely no work done on the feature during development unless someone in power actually feels maps and compasses ruin the game. In that case it will probably be a lot harder to get one.

>great game for fans of retro fpsers that have outmaps
>understand that having automaps are bad because it takes away the explorion factor
>agrees with detractors because of handholding
>people should expect no maps because of recent FPS didnt have it
>would like line maps on the corner of the screen
>would like 3d maps with elevations built in
>feels like the community is right that having maps and compasses dont ruin the game
