Loot was gone after dying

Previously, when I die, I've always been able to go back to my corpse and grab all my items. This time, when I went back, there were no items there.

Here is the scenario

I died in Nevreme after helping the "which". When I was resurrected, I came back as a wolf (most unfun class). The which automatically attacked me. I just forced myself to die because I couldn't loot anything or interact with anything in wolf form (no way to space out of it). Resurrected again and went back, the only loot there was some sticks and a torch. All my loot from the first character that died there was gone.

I've previously been able to go back to a corpse and loot the items even after dying in between.

Keep in mind that if villagers kill you, they will drag and hang your body in a different place. Check the side quests, and you should find a tracker pointing to where they hanged the old body.
