animals already have passive skills (check the character panel while in animal form) and there are faster forms than deer/doe, but I get what you are saying. it could be improved with more content.
I'm not macho enough to be a stag but, man, that rabbit necklace I have is nearly as good as fast travel for traversing the map
also, just curious--don't know anything about game development, what do you mean core game won't support skills for animals? how could it support skills for people but not animals? do you not have time/manpower to write this into the code or is there something about the game engine that wouldn't let you (can't imagine what that wouold be)?
We believe that the core game already has more than enough content and features, considering the price tag as it is.
For now, we are focused on fixing bugs that players encounter, adding QoL and improving the balance. If we are to add new areas, more skill systems, more mechanics, additional quests, more events, or more alternate game endings... that would likely be part of some sort of expansion to the core game.
2. Each animal form should have its own skill tree.
3. Upgraded animals forms should be obtained via quests or boss kills.
4. Animal forms should include unique abilities such as night vision, howl to call a pack, or neigh to call a deer herd etc.
5. Stealth should be implemented in the game to allow stealth animals/players.
Animal form was originally introduced as a side mechanic to make traveling across the map faster.
That being said, we’ve added some synergies between the Hunter class and animal forms. Necklaces also have unique abilities, such as granting night vision or causing other animals to follow the player. There is some info on that here: https://svarogsdream.wiki.gg/wiki/Animal_Form
