Path 1 spoiler: Trick is to allow copy to kill you, you won't actually die.
Path 2 spoiler: You can bait boss into town, use poisons or stronger build.
I feel like the Path 1 option is terrible in a game where letting something like that happen normally has heavy penalties.
I would say that letting something kill you qualifies as combat.
Perhaps there could be an alternate clear option for that part of the quest, where if you don't do damage to the duplicate for a full 60 seconds, it also counts. That would allow for people like me who knew that I wasn't supposed to attack it to clear it. I think I was running around for two minutes before I gave up and had to look it up to see that I was supposed to "die" and that I wouldn't actually "die".
The clone does almost no damage to me. I guess I will have to unequipped everything.
As for baiting the boss, I get killed before I can reach a town, or the boss disengaged. I made it to the third boss in the snow biome now after leveling to 53. That undead boss is too nice, I dont wants to kill it.
Apparently you don't have to lose the exact gear itself, you need only donate the monetary equivalent of all the items and money that you had been carrying at the time. I was fortunate to have stored quite a lot of money at the bank guy with the king before this happened, otherwise it would have taken me a lot of trouble to make up for the money. Unfortunately it took all of the money I had stored at the bank to satisfy the quest. I think this is relatively fair. My guess is the game calculates the monetary value of every single item in your bags and worn if you sold them all immediately at the moment you get the quest, plus however much money you had.
It's a rather simple and clever way for the dev to account for such trickery that one should expect players to do. I gotta applaud the dev for that.
Just earn more gold, bro. Just, like, farm everything until you have enough gold.
For the record, I had banked 200k. I had no specific reason to do so, I just had a hunch that I would want to keep some money in the bank.
Remember kids, luck IS a skill.
Do you y'all know if there is already an existing bug report for when your stash is full if you move more things to it the items will disappear? I can not locate my items.
I spent this entire time leveling up my character and maxing everything. I have like 15 animals following me because I obviously pet everything in sight because I'm playing the good guy. And having bears following you around is pretty cool.
I've accidentally killed this guy 7 times in a row. The solution is turning off auto attack. But he's killing all my PETS that I spent many many hours collecting. >:(
Wish there was a dialogue option to skip this. "Yeah, I get it. Don't attack and die. Let's skip this stupid philosophy crap and get on with it so I don't lose my pets."
Based on the sentiment of your post, I advise you take the path of doing.
