Ahh okay, it came after me again, and even though it spooked the soul out of me, I was relieved to see it again. Unfortunately, I only had two dialogue options for it this time.
Do you remember all of the dialogue options from the very first meeting? That's what I'm most sad about missing since the game bugging out didn't let me see any of it.
We will investigate the bug, but you missed nothing important in that dialogue.
From a design perspective, this game does not limit the gear you can use by levels, instead, we use events like this to discourage players from using late-game gear too early.
That's good to know and quite creative—the game's form of trying to keep powerful equipment in check.
I assumed there was a deeper meaning to its dialogue like the previous NPCs I've met that seemed like bad people but actually weren't, but if you don't mind—just for curiosity's sake, do you happen to know the dialogue or have it on hand for each option?
It's okay if you don't, but if you do, would you mind sharing it here but with the spoiler tags? If it's possible for me to do so, I like to read all dialogue options for the lore I wouldn't find in menus, and I feel just a smidgen bad missing out on Vatra's.
As for the bug, I think it occurred when they happened upon me for the first time while I was transformed into a rabbit. They somehow "disappeared" which made me think it was possession before the dialogue started breaking.
Vatra: In your possession lie ancient artifacts that are not rightfully yours. I covet these possessions for my own desires. Surrender the {itemName}to me, and you shall be unshackled to traverse your path without hindrance.
Player: Who are you?
Vatra: I am Vatra the Immortal, bound by the singular purpose of eradicating the ancient artifacts from this realm and safeguarding them within my treasury.
Player: What will happen if I give you the item?
Vatra: For the next span of 36 days, I shall remain unseen by your eyes.
Player: What if I don't want to give it to you?
Vatra: I shall extinguish your life and claim that which is not rightfully yours.
Player: What will you do with the item?
Vatra: The artifacts shall be preserved and ensconced in a secure location beyond the realms of the mortal world.
Player: So, if I give you my {itemName}, will you go away?
Vatra: Indeed, I just need the artifact. I dont care do you live or die.
Player: The item is mine. (combat)
Player: You may have the item. (Vatra goes away)
Player: Die, demon! (combat)
Thank you~
For now, I'll try not to run away from NPCs I haven't seen before in a different form, lol—just in case they only want to talk.
... what if I just put it in my inventory on the 35th day?
EDIT:
Damn.... Vatra just ambushed me before I got around to taking it off.
Oh well.
