Duelyst II

Duelyst II

LustONE Jan 17, 2023 @ 3:34pm
This game is dead already.
Upon launch, Duelyst II peaked at around 2k players online on steamdb. I guess that's alright for a niche game.
For past weeks on a rapid decline. Today, barely crossed 400 players at prime-time.
Also, devs silent? No PR, no marketing, no communication, no roadmap, no nothing? After they raised over $140k out of requested $25k?
Played for two days straight, not gonna invest any more time, I've seen it all before.

Shame, though, the best game in its genre.

If there were more puzzles the quality of what's already there, I'd play a lot.

Agree, I feel the same way
luckily I didn't invest any bucks into it, that would make me mad

I don't really know why some of you are surprised people invested so much time in to the original game just for the devs to be like naaaa im good (delete) its super amazing for these fans to remake the game but there is far less context then there was and you have to redo all your hard work a lot of people would rather play something else then redo all that.

Feel like alot of the fun was taken out when they didnt keep aspects of the og game. Shoulda just been a "remaster" or something

Well, there is another fanprojekt coming to steam. duelyst.gg
It is basically fanmade copy of duelyst, with patches for balancing and even some new cards. And on top of it you have all cards available for free. So if duelyst 2 is not for you, you could check the other one out.

It's missing too many fun cards, they made it too regressive, like how the game first came out, this was not its ideal form. It was in peak form right before it was ruined by that big corporation.

I think pushing it out with all cards unlocked removes a lot of motivation to play the game, as unlocking cards (if its made right and fast enough) is half the fun, there was an update today on the progress of duelyst 2 so I have a little hope for it to continue...

yeah im not investing in a game with an arguably worse monetization than the original when all the money i put in first one is gone lol.

I'm happy it's dying rapidly. Todays patch further punished leveling in legacy forcing us to derank to have a chance to level all factions.

Greedy and clueless devs

Imagine a card game where the only playable strategy is aggro. Ahh no, no need to imagine, we have this game - this is duelist 2

I think this game is definitely an upgrade from the old one, the old one was super paytowin RNG fest, just looking and comparing the old cards is a baffling comparison. They have made great choices removing a lot (sadly not all) of completely insane random cards which just make games coinflips, and also they made the rarity diversity a lot better, only 4 legendaries per faction and some more for the neutrals. Before it was like 20+ legendaries for each factions, and the legendaries were clearly OP and must have. Now they seem more balanced.

That said, the overall card pool is tiny, so that limits deckbuilding a lot, the game needs like 3 expansions at least to have some archetypes etc. and idk if those will arrive. Pretty disappointing that the latest patch doesn't add anything, just more cosmetic buying options, which no one will hopefully buy anyways.

Also maybe add options to buy faction specific orbs with gold, and also increase the damn gold rewards on everything, it's pathetic. Also no one will tip their own gold in a game, just a hint.

Actually THIS, I just dont get why people think investing on the same ♥♥♥♥ that you already have is a good idea...unless you got way too much money to blow, but then again I'd use that money to invest LOL

Yeah, they suck. Game's unbalanced so it's super repetitive to play. Hopefully someone makes a better version of duelyst now that the source code is free.
