Anyway, no. This is very simply, the first game without MTX. You still earn AP to build up your crafts, but that's just the in-game RPG mechanic that was always present and fair. Black, Finale and .decluster are their own separate entities on mobile (meaning BHM on mobile doesn't tie into them aside from being a prequel) and hopefully all the others make the trek to Steam!
Compared to many other games, it might feel like a lot, but really this is a great price for a shmup. Each game in the mainline Touhou series is also 15$ on Steam. In either case, I feel like BHM gives as much or more content than each of those, and with a plethora of options that the other games just dont provide (movement control schemes, high resolution/vertical display support, official leaderboards, a replay system that outclasses most games in the entire genre, etc.). Between that and the various game modes and difficulties, plus 9 different ship types, and puzzle elements in the Chapter mission bonuses, this has a lot to offer before even getting to the point of replaying stages.
As much as I'd love for it to be Free to Play here as well so I could convince more friends to try it, I think having the old AP system and locking ships behind mtx would not be a good way to launch the game on PC honestly.
They put a lot of work into developing the entire series, and keeping it all F2P and very fair on mobile, so I feel like 12$ for a such a stellar port is more than worth it. Maybe a bit much if you're deciding on this or some other game you're wanting to play, especially other equally great indie titles, though I think the price is perfect for new players entering the genre, especially since they can always play the entire game on mobile for free if they want to demo it or something!
Agreed. I also feel like many gamers tend to not value shmups as much as they would in other genres. "Game should be $5 or free", why? Because it's "oh, you're just shooting things and evading bullets, the whole genre is the same lol"? I feel like if you're someone who considers $12 to be too much for something that has a history of being highly rated, you're just being cheap and ultimately creating a market of lower-quality games because you're not giving back to the people making the quality products.
Not to my knowledge, but you can use a mouse and keyboard just fine.
