Anybody get this running on the Steam Deck?

Nope, but I'm no expert tinkerer. It definitely doesn't run on any of the available Proton versions without any further trickery. It's disappointing because the old version runs, as does Raiden IV Mikado. Hopefully someone can figure it out!

Appreciate the response. It really is too bad, especially for the price. I'll probably wait for a sale since I already have it on the Switch.

Yeah, I've had issues trying to run on a normal Linux desktop (Nobara 38 in my case), even using GE Proton the game either crashes immediately or just locks the whole system up to where I have to hard restart. Hopefully the compatibility can somehow be addressed.

Its a shame to hear this. Steamdeck compatibility is a must for me now. I have the PS4 version but would double dip for a pc/steamdeck copy, hopefully it will be sorted.

Tried resolution options and GE-Proton a bunch... White screen and system lockup. Very disappointing and I hope NISA and MOSS fix this soon. They were able to fix the asteroids in RDIV, which ran fine either way, new and old release alike; and old RDIII requires a very old Proton build to run. I do not want to go back to that.

Just what happened here? Feels like this should have been a grand slam.

Sadly, I have refunded this. I will be keeping an eye on everything and if it is ever possible to run this on Steam Deck I will gladly re-purchase, but I already have the old version (which runs on the Deck) so owning this is one pointless for me.

I know it doesn’t say it’s supported, but I own every other Raiden game on Steam and, with some tinkering, every single one of them runs on Steam Deck (most of them are “unsupported” as well), so I thought it was a safe assumption I could get this one working.

I saw an NIS reply in another thread, so I’m hoping they have also seen this thread and will consider looking into this 🙏

I might consider collecting the reports in this topic (plus my own experiences) to post in the Troubleshooting section, in case that'd help any.

Could not get them to run on the deck. That’s so cool you got them to run. Any suggestions?

Raiden IV should work out of the box, in fact thanks to something I brought up in the forums for the recent rerelease it works perfectly now, with no disappearing assets unlike OverKill, where that wasn't fixed before it got pulled.

Old Raiden III works with Proton v4.11-13, which is a very roundabout way to do things and will still require you to use a custom config that binds keyboard inputs to your Deck controls.

RDV works with the latest Proton or GE-Proton, except for the video player, which is flickery as heck until it crashes. Save for the credits sequence, this can easily be skipped with Start and the actual game plays fine.

Raiden Legacy only works if you mod in the GOG wrapper. But nobody likes Raiden Legacy. It's a DotEmu-made emulated product, or in other words, very poor. Just a badly-hacked MAME wrapper that hardly even works all that well and lacks plenty of what made Raiden Fighters Aces and Hamster's PS4 port of OG Raiden great.

Every tinkering step I’ve ever taken beyond trying different versions of Proton I learned from here: https://www.protondb.com/

Just search for whichever specific game you are looking for and see if anybody has had any luck running it. Hope this helps :)

Last time I remembered trying out Raiden 3 Digital Edition, it seemed to work if you used WineD3D instead of Dxvk (which I believe dxvk has been updated already to fix the crashing trying to get into gameplay issue), latest stable proton should be using the version of dxvk with the fix so it shouldn't be needed to use proton 4.11-13 anymore.

Huh. That is cool. Noted for later, thanks.

Works for me using GE-Proton 8-24. Only just picked the game up but no issues so far.

I came here to second that GE-Proton 8-25 (latest as of this moment) also works great other than a tiny amount of occasional stuttering for me (on nvidia). I haven't tested that on Deck yet, but if it works on Linux it probably will.

I got a white screen, so I tried GE-Proton 8-25 (latest) and it worked fine!
