Why is this game blocked for my region?
I can perfectly purchase and access Arkham Asylum GOTY yet not this game, not even the non GOTY edition, this region blocking is non-sense, by the way my region is Dominican Republic.

I am from Serbia (Central Europe) and I have purchased Arkham Asylum (GOTY), but I have no access to Arkham City (standard or GOTY). Which idiot (publisher) is making this kind of restrictions? I see no point in that, especially since the first game is available in my country.

I have given so much money on games here on Steam, but recently, both Valve and some publishers have made me think twice before I purchase anything. I'm starting to think that I'm being discriminated by them...

I seriously hope that this kind of customer mistreatment will end soon.

I'm interested in this as well, the GOTY edition of the game was released in North America on May 29, and it was supposed to be released on September 7 for the rest of the world, I patiently waited these 4 months and I still can't buy it.... it's saddening to say the least

I hope it's just a delay thing, and that we will get the game soon

I can purchase the disc version of this game if I wanted but I want the Steam version because I buy all my games on Steam since it's more convenient for me, the first game is available so I see no reason not to have this game available for my region as well, then they blame piracy when it is them negating us the opportunity to legally purchase it.

Here in Russia we had the same problem with Bethesda Fallout series, but it was due to the local retailers who were afraid of losing profits should the game become available via steam. Maybe it is the same for you guys.

Not in my country, no store sells PC games over here, only console games and accesories, that's why I buy all my PC games on Steam, for me to buy this game on disc I would have to order it from etailers in the USA such Amazon, Best Buy, eBay etc... and pay shipping, I like it more on Steam since I save money from shipping fees as well as not having the disc get scratched or something, with Steam I know the game is there on the servers so I can download, delete and redownload at any time without being worried about the disc getting scratched or broken.

I understand most, if not all GFWL games from a certain date (when this rule went into effect) are restricted to the 20 regions GFWL supports, to prevent people from buying the game and attempting to activate it only to get a "Not available in your region" error. AFTER buying.

Of course, you can get past the GFWL activation restriction by choosing "United States" on sign-up. But not everyone knows that.

It has nothing to do with GFWL. Around here (Romania) Arkham City is region locked via Steam. However, you can buy retail edition for 20E.

If it were a GFWL problem this would also apply to retail editions.

Not to mention that I have the game (standard edition) that came with the video card and it works just fine.

But I would also like to know WHY is this region locked. And also why there is no way to upgrade from standard edition to GOTY. :|

Yes, it is because of GFWL. Even here GFWL games are also sold in retail form despite the fact GFWL doesn't support Israel, and yet they are still blocked on Steam. This rule was started because many, many refund requests and support ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ came from people who bought GFWL games and then couldn't play them when GFWL claimed their region was not supported.

Well I've never had a problem with GFWL games, in fact there are many GFWL games still available for my region on Steam, but there are others that arent, Age of Empires III was released not long ago on Steam, its a microsoft game yet it is available for my region, Bulletstorm on the other hand is region blocked just like this game, some games are blocked and some arent, I just dont understand this non-sense.

Arkham City is not available in my region as well. However, you can try searching for "Steam US" in Google and go to the link to the US store. After that, the store page may now appear. This applies to accessing Steam store through a browser, but not the Steam client. I was able to add the game to my cart but I haven't bought it yet as it's not yet on sale.

I was just gifted the game and I cant access it because it says it is region locked. I live in the United States. The best part, I got a hold of WB and asked them why. Their reply, it is not us it is steam. So Steam Why is this (oh and it isnt the hole game just the season pass that triggers the error) getting a region lock?
PointZero0013 Dec 24, 2018 @ 1:25pm
Maybe it's a problem with the gifting system and region blocking, if you would have bought it directly maybe there would have been no problems, they lifted the region blocking for my region a few years ago. My best advice is for you to contact Valve's customer support, even then I don't guarantee a solution but it's a start. I hope it gets resolved for you and have a merry christmas.
