How to Fix the Save Game / GFWL problem in Batman Arkham City

Hey there. i had some issues with save games and Game For Windows Live not working with the game, and after contacting the WB Support, in few minutes they replied with a solution that really work. So i´m just pasting the solution here to help you if your are having the same problem.

Here we go:

"Please uninstall and reinstall Windows Live on your system.

To uninstall Windows Live and reinstall it on Windows 8, please do the following:

1. Go to your Control Panel.
2. Select Programs, Programs + Features.
3. Choose Uninstall a program.
4. Uninstall the Games for Windows Live Client.
5. Download the following file. (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient)
6. Right click on the file that downloaded and select proprieties.
7. Select the compatibility tab and select Windows 7.
8. Install the Games for Windows Live Client with the file you downloaded by right clicking it and selecting run as an Administrator.
9. Once the client is installed right click the Games for Windows Live Client and select proprieties.
10. Select the compatibility tab and select Windows 7.
11. Right click the client and select run as Administrator."

I was running the game on Windows 8 64 bits, and before contact the support i´ve tried to reinstall several times the GFWL and nothing... I think the key is to run it on Compatible Windows 7 mode and run as Administrator.

Same problem here can't connect to the server |Connection Error| then it tells me to update windows live ID,i download the update then it goes to install but it stops at the "gathering information" it disappears -.-

I have the same or however a similar error. I done as you said(Uninstalling, rebooting, downloading/installing again...) and now after I setted the compatibility in Windows7 mode I can't neither open GFWL (while before it was possible for me even if it wasn't working with Batman). As I try to it says ''Touse Games for Windows Software, you need the Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant. Do you want to view and download the update?''.
I click on ''ok'', it redirect me to download that fu**** Live ID Sign-Assistant, I choose the 64bit version (I have Windows8 64), download it, open it and trying to install but nothing! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried this. It didn't work. It said that there is trouble connecting and then when I go to uninstal both the Windows LIVE Redistributable and the Marketplace programs they won't uninstall. They just stay there. Can anyone help me with tihs?

I found a reason why some of the guy's Games For Windows LIVE isn't working (maybe). If you have purchased Batman Arkham city from any stores they have now moved the core game and the LIVE perks to steam. So basically, they moved Batman: Arkham City to steam and LIVE will only work, if you have purchased it on steam. If you have purchased it on other stores, good luck trying to play through the game without saving once.

after i did all the steps in this thread i couldnt get GFWL running in the Game so i keept search and tried the step given in this link and now it works for me. hope this helps someone
