This might help. It worked for me and I am running windows 8. SO if you have 7 or 8 you might wanna try this. In order to save the game you must create a windows live account and attach it to the game. So when you are at the main menu you should be able to press <HOME> on your keyboard to open a menu up on the top of your screen. You will then need to make a windows live account and the game will automatically save. The problem most people have is either they have not tried it yet or "Im pressing the home button on the KEYBOARD and im pressing the live button on the menu AND ITS NOT WORKING!" If you have not tried to create the live account on the game press the home button on the keyboard. If when you press the home button or the live button on the menu and nothing happens try the steps listed below.

P.S.--- Although these steps may take some time to do and you may be frustrated with them. IT IS WORTH IT! This game is too good to let some little bug mess up for you. Try the steps and if it does not work search youtube or other help sites. Although you may not think so, there is a solution to this save problem.

1. If you already have versions of GFWL(Games for windows live) applications set up you need to delete them. Also you need to clean your computers regestry.

2. Download gfwlivesetupmin.exe Link: http://www.shacknews.com/file/18176/games-for-windows-live-client-v33

3. Install the client and run it. It will ask you to download an update called gfwlivesetup.exe by clicking the requested link. Install it

4. Launch GFWLive.exe from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE\Client.

5. Launch Batman: Arkham City and the Home button should work now, create or sign into an account and play.

This is NOT my information. The original source of this information can be found here:http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2318449.

Hope it helps.

YOU need to download the new games for windows marketplace.

Steam installs the old crappy version when you try to launch the game the first time.

Uninstall current GFWL stuff under add/remove programs. REMOVE them both. (Marketplace, and GFWL redist.)

Then go to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/pc/downloadclient

Restart pc after.

But make sure to ERASE the old versions FIRST (Marketplace, and GFWL redist.)

If anything, steam is to blame for giving us old crap drivers that automatically install."

do exactly as it says then after you restart open the game up and you should get a pop up from windows to sign in and continue .. "everything is self expanatory"

How do you do this?

Again, as i've mentioned in one of the other discussions. And for those who haven't bought the game, but maybe thinking about it. Don't buy it unless it's on sale. The fact that it barely allows you to think for yourself throughout the game, yet doesn't inform -or- explain you, in any way. That it's required to do all various things to be able to save, simply isen't properly planned. So far, I haven't come across any other game which have that horrible planning behind it. And don't get me wrong, the game itself is well made, and incredible fun. If you ignore the fact that the most important feature in -any- game.. The PROPER ability to save doesn't work. (Assuming you doesn't have endless time, and actually stuff to do IRL) But, it pulls it down big time, so as mentioned. Buy it on sale, don't waste a larger amount of cash on something which is still quite flawed.

Has everyone made a windows live account? lol

OK, I had the same issue with windows 8. At first the game ran fine with my initial setup. I was forced to reinstall windows 8 due to a brand new SSD i bought. never the less, When i restored the GOTY i was not getting the xbox live prompt and couldn't save my games. I went to add remove programs and i remove everything related to games for xbox live. I rebooted the pc and reinstalled the games for xbox live and it worked...! now it all good with windows 8 again... Thanks to everyone..
GWFL overlay works just fine however the "windows" key won't activate the GWFL ingame. :( Anyone having this problem?

I have the same problem...I play it on Win 8, I've a Live Account, GfWL (Marketplace) in on my PC, but when Batman Arkham Asylum starts Win Live's popup doesn't open and I can't save the progress.
I have the same problem with Batman Arkham City too.

At this point, don't save your game, save your money. B-ACity is a great game, howqever, on Steam... it's a dread. I have played for 13 hours, haven't unlocked a singlew achievement, and on top of it, had my 13 hr save file straight up disappear out of nowhere. And not a single trace of hope to be found. So, it's not saving your game that is the ultimate problem. Once you do that, you gotta worry about KEEPING said save file.

Fcuk that hard widda rubber hose.

Fala galera!

O problema é no GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE (GFWL).
