BATMAN ARKHAM CITY WINDOWS 8 FIX please read this before complaining!
to play BATMAN Arkham City on Windows 8 and GFWL doesnt boot up to save your games etc do this... I think it is a 64bit problem.

To fix the LIVE popup problem, just copy the following files to "Windows\System32".

xlive.dll, xlive.dll (Security Catalogue), xlivefnt.dll, xliveinstall.dll, xliveinstallhost.exe.

The files are in: "W
indows\SysWOW64.

Hope this helps.

Arkham City runs in 32bit mode so won't find the the .dll's in SysWOW64 folder.

only posting it here cos Microsoft is to blame for that and everyone on the interwebs is ripping their hair out since win 8 release cos their game couldn't be saved on PC.

hence i have little hair left :D

I just fixed this issue (I am on Windows 8, but the above didn't help me).
I uninstalled all Microsoft Games for Windows software then went to the xbox.com and downloaded and installed Games for Windows Live.
When I booted back into the game it asked me to sign in and all worked perfectly.
Hope this helps others.

I just tried this suggestion, the one posted by Gray Fox, and still it didn't work.

edit: I also have Windwos 8 pro - 64 Bit.

hmm weird let me check it again because it did work for me.... unless its a steam issue. not necessarily a missing file in a windows folder.

I have Win 8 Pro and I had this issue. Your fix worked perfectly for me. I think you're right when you say it's only because this game's running in 32bit on a 64bit OS.
Thanks

If it's a 64 bit issue it would happen on Windows Visa 65, Windows 7 64 bit and Windows 8 64 bit.

yeah i thought so too but it could be in windows 8 programming that it doesnt know where to place those files INCASE game is 32 bit where as previous windows did.. so microsoft to blame but yes i agree i never had the problem on previous versions of windows meaning 7 pro etc
