Remote Electric Charge couldn't open the door to let me leave the Smelting Chamber

Hi. I just wanted to know whether any of you experienced the same thing.

After rescuing the doctor in the Smelting Chamber, I have the R.E.C. assembled and tried it on the motor for the alternate exit. The door won't open.

I thought that there may be something that I forgot to do so I started another game and found myself with the same problem. Although the R.E.C. powered up the motor to open the door, the door remains closed.

What could have happened? I checked the online walkthroughs and it seems that I did not miss anything. The door should open but it won't.

Any opinions please?

Have you tried both firing methods? You can press both left mouse & middle mouse. I believe Middle-mouse is the one that opens the door.

Unless you're using a controller. Then it's RT or RB. RB I think is the one to to open it.

My middle mouse button doesn't seem to work. I mapped a keyboard alternate for the middle mouse button. It worked for me. Thanks guys.

With the controller, RB is up and RT is down. Don't feel bad, I almost reloaded the game too. Good thing the sign didn't say " HIGH VOLTAGE" or "WET PAINT".

Oh God, this thread saved my sanity! I had no idea that the gun even had an alt-fire mode! Even had I known, the in-game manual isn't exactly clear about what each fire mode does, as "fire positive charge" and "fire negative charge" aren't exactly helpful instructions to raise a door.
