Microphone Problem

for some reason when i run this game, steam says my microphone is in use by the game and wont let me voice chat with friends. The game has no online! why is it even using it? lol someone help please.

I, too, am having this problem suddenly, and I have not had it before. What the heck? I can't steam chat at all while doing Riddler challenges - and that has NEVER happened in the months and months and months I've been playing this game and chatting at the same time. Now suddenly the game needs my microphone? What?

I'm pretty late to the party, but I just started running into this issue. I was able to fix it by going here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Batman Arkham City GOTY\engine\config

and opening the BaseEngine.ini

Near the bottom you'll find the [VoIP] section change the value for bHasVoiceEnabled to FALSE
