But I have found a workaround. It requires a third party software called "AutoHideMouseCursor" and you can get it here:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/AutoHideMouseCursor.shtml
It is freeware and simple to use. You just have to make sure not to move your mouse while it is running. Also take note that the first time after activating it and opening the map, the mouse cursor will show once because the game relocates it to the middle of the screen.
It's also freeware, although the download page is a bit annoying in that, if you want to download the program you have to click on the 'Like/Follow/+1' buttons. Oh, well.
I tried several approaches (using hotkeys, lauching the game from a bat file that first hid the mouse...). In the end what's working best for me is adding nomousy to Steam as a non-Steam game and running it before I lauch Batman: AC.
Undoubtedly an involved and convoluted method to work around a silly problem that just shouldn't happen in such a modern, high-profile game in this day and age.
Well aren't you a smart one, huh? Do you really think the people to be too stupid to think of that themselves? The problem with your ingenious solution is that the cursor keep getting placed at the center of the screen automatically.
So the good news is Virsalus' method (AutoHideMouseCursor app) worked! BUT I believe the default setting is "aggresive strategy," which doesn't work (or at least didn't for me) -- I had to switch it to "classic strategy." Hallelujah!
I'm anticipating those new Batman games currently making headlines are going to have the exact same problem. They'll develop the games for consoles, then give PC players another poorly executed port.
It's just unfortunate that their games actually play better with mouse/keyboard. If they were superior on controllers, I'd at least have incentive to purchase the games for console. As it is, I have incentive to purchase neither.
I'm betting it's the mod. Leave it up to modders to always show the actual developers how it's done.
If you unplug your mouse from the PC the cursor will disappear.
I can't recall the details, but there is a way to create a mouse icon 'profile' where essentially you would add a blank image for it so that when you're playing the game, you activate that 'profile' and there's a blank cursor. It's a bit of work, but worth it.
Thanks for mentioning that part about changing to classic strategy for the app to hide the cursor in Arkham City. I'd tried both the other options it had without thinking to try the classic one & probably wouldn't have thought to at this point so I'm really thankful you mentioned that part.
