How do I pull up while divebombing

I am having trouble with the 2nd Demon trial where I have to follow Ra's Al Ghul's sparkle form.

Once you pick up enough speed to start your divebomb, let go of the dive button and press down. You'll catch a lot more air than in a normal glide and gain height.

Pull back on the mouse/thumbstick.

I figured out that the game will change the tooltip at the bottom of the screen when you should pull out of your dive bomb. I struggled with this for a long time too.
