The combat system
Does anyone else agree the combat sucks?! Some even will go as far to say that it is critically acclaimed, but you just spam one button, and watch as Batman does all the work! You dont even need to face an enemy, Batman will just fling himself around, breaking bones. What do you guys think?

I agree that it is an amazing game, but I think the combat could be better. Thanks for the opinion!
I actually really like it - with how easily you can dispatch the random mooks, it really emphasises how good in a fight Batman is. And not having to face an enemy is kind of a Batman signature[tvtropes.org], after all. :P

You still need to time your spam well... not breaking combo as long as possible... use various takedown n gadget skill during the combo.. to get better score.

For me it's very easy to learn combat system and hard to master. :D

I only don't really like how Batman could dash very far from 1 enemy to another in free-flow.

its not really spamming. you have to time your strikes and direct where you want batman to go when he jumps about. also adding gadgets to the combos is awesome. i dont think you are playing it right haha. one of the best combat systems i have ever played and this will always be one of my all time favourite games.

Thanks for the replies! I have played alot more of the game now, and after unlocking alot of more attacks, it is alot more diverse.

I thought the combat in AC is the best out of the Arkham games.... extremely fluent.

Not sure about this one because i only played it on normal, but switching the original arkham asylum to hard removed the visual incoming attack prompt. meaning you had to pay way more attention to the fights

New Game+ does the same in this game.

Which is the longest combo you have achieved? If you had gotten past 23x you would've know.

Yes, I have gotten past 23. The game is great, but it still comes down to spamming the button, but as I have played it has gotten a bit more diverse. However, the core combat is still the same for me.

You're doing it wrong. sure you can bounce around doing nothing but the standard attack if you want, but that's insanely boring. Learn how to actually play and combat becomes immensely more satisfying.

Agree, BAK's combat is better in some parts but it's kinda buggy and I feel you have less control over Batman.

I'm hoping Arkham Knight's smoother after the patch.....

I'll also say this though, the combat in Origins isn't too bad once you get used to the timing.

Definitely. The Combat in City and Origins is very similar but as you said timings are slightly different, Origins did make a few improvements over the combat in City - The biggest issue I've encountered with Origins is the Martial Artists sometimes break the combat when you counter, you counter then and as you are countering them your combo just vanishes... Very annoying bug.
