@SarPraise, check Google to see if you're missing drivers for that model on W10, especially if you're using the enhanced XBox One controller. When those first released I recall having issues using them on W8.1, seemingly now patched. When I recently plugged in my new one, the drivers downloaded automatically. If you have a gaming mouse or other USB devices, unplug them to eliminate input conflict. If you were using a keyboard-to-gamepad app like XPadder for older games, disable it.
Navigate to Control Panel \ Hardware and Sound \ Devices and Printers. Right-click on your controller icon and click Properties > Hardware. If Device Status doesn't say "This device is working properly" then click Troubleshoot. Let us know your results.
