[SPOILERS] A Question About the Ending of the Game...
Sorry if this is kind of a stupid question but was Batman genuinely sad that Joker died? I say this because when Batman left the theatre he was carrying Joker's body and not Talia's (who Ra's Al Ghul says is "the only person Batman's ever loved") and Bruce just seemed sad overall. I also imagine Bruce tearing up while listening to Joker's voice message that plays during the credits.

I know that Joker liked Batman a lot and without him he wouldn't have a reason to go on but did Batman like Joker too? (in a really weird way) Also, if someone said to Joker that they had killed Batman, Joker would get extremely mad and kill them and if someone wanted to kill Joker, Batman would stop them no matter what.

So was Batman actually sad or am I completely wrong?

Thanks =)

u cant b more right. I believe :)
I don't know if he was sad about it. He might have felt guilt because he felt in some way responsible and killing goes against his most strongly held moral. I think he took the body outside to show all the other goons that Joker was dead so that they would no longer have a leader to group around.
That makes sense but you don't think that deep, deep, deep, deeeep down, Bruce felt just a LITTLE sad? It just looked like he had more remorse for Joker than he did for Talia. I understand that he feels guilty like you said but still...

I think of it this way... Say for example you had this really annoying sibling and they always made a lot of noise, broke your stuff, did the opposite of what you told them to do and just annoyed you so much to the point where you wish they would go away for at least a week, then once they do actually go away for a week, despite how anoying they were you'd still kinda miss them because the house feels different, it would have a different atmosphere. It's too quiet. I think it would be the same with Batman and Joker. Joker is the annoying sibling that causes trouble, Batman stops him, rinse and repeat but now he's suddenly gone and Gotham has a different atmosphere, it's more quiet and Batman kind of misses him.

That was probably a terrible analogy but I just really like to think that Batman felt at least a little remorse after Joker's passing. Or am I still wrong? haha
Batman and Joker have a very strange relationship. Batman doesn't want Joker to die (not only does he not kill, but he tries to prevent anyone from dying), and Joker doesn't want Batman to die, because he would be bored and his goal (aside from having fun) seems to be to get Batman to break his rule and kill him. So essentially, whoever dies first wins.

Joker (or, anyone for that matter) dying represents a significant failure on his part. Talia's death was a bit more out of his control, but he blames himself quite a bit for Joker's death due to the circumstances. I don't think he was sad about it in the sense that he'll miss Joker or something like that, he's sad because he failed as Batman.
(Hahaha you're the guy who replied with "holy tl;dr Batman!" on that other post.)

Alright, thanks for your replies =D What you and @Jac said makes a lot of sense. Batman isn't sad about the Joker dying but he would have preferred it if he was securely locked behind bars. But could Batman have really done something to save Joker? The only thing he could have done it not drop the cure, I think. But even that is not his fault. What do you guys think?

No, it really isn't, but he still blames himself. Perhaps if he was stronger, better, more resistant to pain, he wouldn't have dropped it and Joker would still be alive. At least, that's how he sees it.

+1

See, Bats doesn't feel as bad because of Talia's death because it was Joker who killed her. But it was him who let Joker die. That's why he took him instead of her... and to just show everybody that the party's over and they can go home.
Ah, okay. That makes a lot of sense. Thank you everyone for replying! =)
well i was sad af that the joker died...
tientje98 me too :) Credits are sad
Yeah. I'm not gonna lie, I actually teared up.
Didn't Talia's body explode with the floor or was it too far from it?

Actually, that's something I hadn't considered. I don't think you can see her body during the final boss fight, and if that is the case we have no indication of what actually happened to it. As far as we know, all that was left of her was the sword.

In the Batman Arkham Wiki it says "Talia's body was never seen again in the Monarch Theatre after Batman had defeated Clayface and the Joker, and disappeared. It was possible that her body was taken to a Lazarus Pit to be revived by her ninjas, but Batman's guilt over her death and the state of the League of Assassins suggested otherwise. Both Joker's and Talia's deaths sent Bruce into a deep depression."

EDIT: I forgot to quote @Ben&RexGaming's post

He certainly felt bad about Joker's death.
In stark contrast to Clayface, who he actively destroyed just mere seconds before that invalidating his no-killing rule and never thinks about again...
