Batman stuttering on a high end rig
I have an rtx 3070 and a ryzen 5600x and get really bad stutters in the city. Buildings aren't really a problem for some reason. Is this game just poorly optimised, outdated for newer gpus, or is there some setting that could fix it?

Do you have switched on VSync? I had same problem in other games before I turned it on.

I don't think I ever have. Lemme give it a shot. I also have g sync, would you recommend disabling that too?

turn off dx 11 features. they didnt even bother to optimize it properly. doesnt matter how strong your rig is. it wont run well. i have an rtx 30 80 and an i7 10700k and it still runs liek ass lol.

I've done that already and unfortunately it still runs like garbo when running around the city. Plays relatively fine when indoors tho, so least there's that lol.

AMD CPU user here. I followed these instructions:

https://mirror.ashfire908.com/hawken/forums/rld-era/topic/4113-unreal-engine-amd-stutter-fix/index.html

Helped me to reduce stuttering in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ UE3 game called "Hunted: The Demon's Forge". Give it a try. Author claims, that it works for all UE3 based games.
After all, you can just delete that config file, and restart the game, in case if something goes wrong.

Guess I'll give it a go and see what happens!

lucky. I wanted to make sure it wasn't my pc so I did some other gaming. Far cry 6 runs buttersmooth with only occasional stutters, apex runs great, Titan fall 2 is just perfect. I do have trouble with half life now tho. I'm starting to wonder if my hardware is just too powerful to run older games like these effectively...

A couple of years ago I had to disable Windows Defender to make it run 100% smooth. But I recently reinstalled the game and that solution, even though it still improves performance, for some reason it now stutters a bit. You can try disabling whatever av software you have and see if it improves, though.

Also, note that this game STILL installs AMD Dual Core Optimizer. I think that it's obsolete and it can even affect global performance.

I have played this game on 970, 1080, 1080 Ti, and a 2080 Ti, and it was

Good 970
Great 1080
Excellent 1080 Ti
Ridiculously insane 2080 Ti

But it does require fixes like some have pointed out. Dx9 only mode helped a lot with the 970, but after that, just turning down PhysX to Normal or Low was the main thing that fixed the frame issues for me. Anything above Normal, and the game just goes crazy in certain environments and starts stuttering like crazy. YMMV

as i said, make a video with frametime graph

Switch off DX11 features which doesn't make a noticeable difference other then the tessellation ruining some of the assets. Phsyx can be left on. Both my current 1070 TI and old 1660 both run excess of 60fps without DX11, with it comes stuttering in the open map and stuttering in the first couple seconds of any challenge map. It seems to just be fundamentally broken because even high end hardware can't seem to fix it. It's funny how I can run Batman Arkham Knight at max settings 60fps with the gameworks features fully enabled but not this game without turning some settings down.
