You're going to have to play some sequential sections of the game as scripted. Don't rush the game, and pay attention to the incidental dialogue and side mission cues when they unlock. Before getting to the Museum you should have destroyed at least 3 chemical cannisters; had two mystery watcher encounters; inspected a sniper kill site; and found Mr. Freeze's temperature trail. If you stumbled upon this early in the game before being prompted, inspected a mutilated corpse in the Bowery after escaping the Steel Mill and after chasing down a few phone calls Dirty Harry style. All of these will help you rank up more efficiently and round out the game.
