Mr. Freeze's display cage opens by hacking it's control panel with the Cryptographic Sequencer, not an RC Batarang. Perform a running slide under the partition barrier, then apply Explosive Gel to the weak wall. The rest is self-explanatory. Don't forget to scan the riddles, destroy a Venom stash and available Penguins, and collect a trophy after Freeze is liberated.

Thankjs for the reply. We may be referring to two locations here. I checked on YouTube and I saw that they used the Batarang remote control (as suggested on the easy level hints)), but I
could tell from it how he activated the switch as it went by very quickly.

Where I am an it is the place where it says scribbled in red "Welcome to new recruits"' painted on the wall, and and where I need to find 10 policemen held hostage.

Okay, sounds like you're still in the Gladiator Pit, or perhaps just outside it. Inside the Pit the walls should read "Choose Your Weapon." Did you just fight a slew of inmates and a Penguin Titan? If so, face Batman toward the upper level and fly an RC Batarang upward, then follow the left staircase to a red button. You might have already heard Alfred and Barbara's comms, if not then you will after you hit the switch.

To ensure accurate targeting make certain your Batarangs are not inverted from inside the Game Options menu. Remember to shut off the electricity for Catwoman when you reach the top of the staircase. Sorry about the misinformation in my first comment, but from your initial description it sounded like you were already near Freeze's location.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/982135-batman-arkham-city/videos/158761

It is 7 minutes in to this video, and before the Gladiator Pit. I can't understand the options they give on the right hand side of the screen (brake, etc) to help me to direct the Batrang to the switch.

Thanks for your time.

Oh, there. You're not even at the pit yet. I'm going to assume you're using keyboard, which puts me at a slight disadvantage because I'm a gamepad veteran. I can tell you the instruction prompts at lower right screen, but I have no way to confirm their accuracy because I don't use a mouse. The controls are listed for either keyboard or gamepad in your WayneTech gadgets menu. depending on which input is active and plugged in.

From the YouTube video-
Auto-Leveling: Center mouse button
Boost: Left mouse button
Brake: Right mouse button
U-Turn: Right mouse button + Left mouse button

I will do a YouTube search on these terms. Thanks alot for all your help.

I can tell you right now, that much I can do for you.

Auto-leveling is for when the Remote Batarang is flying at an off-kilter angle, most likely after negotiating a turn. Auto-Leveling returns Remote Batarang point of view level to flight horizon.

Boost is another word for acceleration, It increases Remote Batarang speed.

Brake is deceleration, it decreases Remote Batarang speed.

U-Turn is just that, a 180 degree turn from original flight direction. Hold Brake and Boost at the same time, then release.

The RC batarang with keyboard and mouse gets easy with some practice. So if you're having trouble you should try some practice first. Steering gets easier the more you use it.

So I would suggest you use the brake (right mouse button) when throwing, as the slower speed wil make it easier to control. You should be hitting the button and opening the door in no time!

I will give it a try over the weekend. Thanks all.

As I said I would, I have had a try on the weekend and I am still having difficulties. How do I use the u-turn and brake feature to make the batarang go straight downward to the switch rather than go straight back to Batman. I have tried various experiments and none have worked. Thanks.

You don't need U-Turn for that area, simply steer the Batarang toward the switch and hold Brake as BatFink advised above for better control. If you're on keyboard, use the mouse to steer Batarang POV to the switch.

Got it,thanks.. I was getting distracted by u-turns, etc. instead of keeping it simple,.

No problem, happy to help. For devices, use only the options appropriate to each situation. In this case, all you need is essentially "up and over."

U-Turn is great for when you want to use the RC Batarang as a drone for site inspection and enemy location in predator rooms where jamming is present, but you want the Batarang to return to you instead of crashing into a wall and thereby alerting enemies to your presence. There's also a Riddler challenge you complete by catching an RC Batarang.

Thanks for that information. I have been preoccupied with the main missions that I have overlooked the riddler challenges.

As a 47 year old man with hot a great deal of experience of pc games, I have been playing with my 5 year old nephew and did not want to disappoint him by not being able to get past the Batarang area which was causing me huge problems.

Those in-game Riddler challenges for both Batman and Catwoman -- not the separate Challenge Maps -- count toward your trophy totals in being able to locate and capture Riddler himself. There are a total of 440 trophies, riddles and challenges but you can locate Riddler with as few as 400 when the milestone opportunity unlocks much later in the game.

Not everyone likes controllers, but have you considered one? I love them, makes most action tasks really fly during the game and enables seamless combos. Took me a few weeks to really master the controller, now I never even look down at it while playing. Controllers enabled this mid-50s player to 100% every single achievement on all 4 Arkham games. Think about it, it might make some gaming tasks easier.
