CD key problem
A couple of days ago, a friend of mine offered me the game Batman: Arkham City as a birthday gift. When I tried to install it, a Steam "Product Activation" window instantly appeared, as, judging by the Steam logo printed on the CD case's back, this product is obviously meant to be played on the given platform. Of course, when in such case, one would look for the activation code through the game's carcase. And so I did. But strangely enough, there was no sign of any code. After a few attempts of foolishly trying to install it without its key, I decided to meet with my friend in order to return it and get another one. Unfortunately though, for he didn't keep the product's receipt, we weren't able to do a single thing... Now, I'm asking you guys whether you know any other solution to this misfortune other than buying a new game or not.

Alright, I've just checked all 3 discs and didn't found any file containing the CD key.
Contact rocksteady? maybe if you give them your CD key they might give you a valid steam key for owning the game? I know EA did this with sims 2 so try and see.
He can't find the key, so how is that going to happen?

What some companies have done in the past for me, is I have to take actual photocopies (probably phone pics would work) of the physical discs and email them to them, then they would issue me a cd key. That was MANY years ago though.

Look inside the case for any pamphlets, the code should be inside one of them.

There is no pamphlet, from what I can see. The case only contains 3 CDs.

You know, given the circumstances, that may be considered the most logical solution for this issue. Even if game policies have changed in time and this resolve may be considered kind of outdated, I think it surely deserves a try. Thanks for the advice. I'll update the topic as soon as I get an answer.

I tried it on 2 separate occasions, once with EA and once with Ubisoft, and both times they were glad to provide me replacement discs or keys, respectively. Bioware/EA even game me 2 coupons for redeeming games through Origin when Dragon Age 2 was such a launch failure, and I didn't even ask for them. It's all in who you talk to, HOW you talk to them, and some luck-of-the-draw.

*One eternity later*
At last. I received a response e-mail from Rocksteady in the form of a Steam CD key just about a few days ago. In the end, I'm glad that they didn't forget about my request. Finally, to top it off, I really appreciate all the help that was given. Huge thanks for the support offered !

Nice. Can't hurt to try, I always say.
