Getting back into GCPD

Every guide i see says "glide in through the back" but the back entrance is covered in ice, every video i see nobody else is having this problem, what the absolute ♥♥♥♥ is going on?

EDIT: I want to stress that I understand there is a back entrance, i see it, i have seen videos where you can glide through, grapple through, I have seen NOTHING where the back entrance is frozen. My question pertains to why the is the BACK ENTRANCE FROZEN, not the front, the back entrance that is usually accessible by grappling hook or gliding. The back entrance is frozen and I can not advance my game because of it.

Go on the Roof of the GCPD and look to the Ocean. Down there you will see two plattforms, Jump on there, turn around and you will reach the Back Entrance via the grapling Hook.
You search at the Main Entrance, thats the Iced one.

Both entrances are iced I said that in my OP, the back entrance is also covered in ice

You should be able to go through the front. Shot the electric box above the gate. It will lift a little breaking the ice, and allowing you to slide under it.

The gate isn't the door and there isn't a electric box above the front entrance. There is a gate that you have to slide through then the actual door is frozen in ice.

As you can see there is no way in, I do not know why and I can not advance the game until I figure this out.

Imo it's either a broken save, or you haven't progressed in the story far enough for it to open. Is your main objective getting back to Mr freeze ?

Well, i just finished the game, and i didn't need to use the back entrance. After beating up the thugs in front i slid under the gate with electric box, and the door behind it to the right could be open to enter (the one where you got penguin radio frequency)

If that door is also frozen i dunno

I just beat the game (again) for the second time because i switched to a different pc.
I didn't even use the back of the gcpd, you use the front gate that you open with the REC to slide under.

Yikes! That does sound like a broken save. You might could try traveling to a different area of the map, maybe go indoors somewhere, then back out and return to the GCPD. Sometimes that will reset the state of some situations like that.

You could also try completing another side quest, and see if triggering another quest might reset the Mr Freeze one.

I have a feeling it's messed up permanently though. Sounds like something didn't trigger when it was supposed to, and now you're permanently locked out of that area. Sucks.

It's for this very reason I try to keep incremental save backups of any games without a manual save system. Several of the users around here keep such saves, myself included. However, I have a jumbled mess of saves.. I think someone named MrJAG was keeping a good stash of them. I'll see if I can find them.

Definitely sounds like a glitched save. It definitely happens in this game. I had a similar problem with one of the Riddler rooms. Long-story-short, your game (at least that save) got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and you need to start over. Also, everything EbonHawk said.
And yes, Mr JAG does have Save Games on his Youtube Channel; I downloaded and used them recently.

Anyway, I just got this problem too, and I think I managed to fix it using Cheat Engine. (Sorry for necroing the thread, but this is still high up in Google results and the only info I found about this specific problem.)

Here's how I did it:

1. Make a backup of your save file, in case you mess something up
2. Use this guide to enable console commands: https://fearlessrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?t=1217
3. Go to the back entrance (at the water), use the command Ghost, and clip through the ice wall there.
4. Make sure you're in the space between the ice wall and the door, and not touching any walls/floor/ceiling (I'm not sure whether this step matters, but might as well)
5. Use the command SaveGameHere
6. Return to menu and reload your save

This will allow you to go through the door. However, once through I got stuck again due to these vents that don't let me pass. I repeated the trick with the Ghost and SaveGameHere commands to get to the other side of the vents, and then went to talk to Mr. Freeze. Once you're done dealing with him, you get a new gadget to block the vents. When I got out of the building the pesky ice wall was gone. Finally.

There might very well be a more efficient way to fix the problem, but at least this is working for me so far.

(edit: It seems you're supposed to go through the front door at this point in the story. That would explain my problem with the vents.)
